| Red Legged Yorkie Hi Everyone! I'm new to the site and I've seen a few old posts about Red Legged Yorkies. I'm wondering if my little girl, Guinness is a red-legged yorkie. I met both of her parents who are full bred yorkies and my best friend got Guinness' brother from the same litter. Guinness' brother is fluffy and has silky hair, but my baby Guinness' hair seems to be slicked back and not so full. I'll attach images... Guinness: Guinness at about 10 weeks (just this past weekend) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ctureid=133842 Guinness at 6 weeks and 5 days http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ctureid=133837 Guinness at 7 weeks http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ctureid=133838 Guinness at 8 weeks http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ctureid=133839 Guinness' Brother, Mister... very fluffy and full hair: Mister at 10 weeks (just this past weekend) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ctureid=133841 Mister at 6 weeks http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ctureid=133840 Thanks again for any help! |

| Hi, Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I am afraid I don't know a thing about red legged Yorkies. Never even heard of a Yorkie like that. But I just had to write and say what a beauty your little one is. I like his hair like it is. I am sure someone else will write and tell you what you asked about. Sorry I have nothing to give you about it. What is a red legged Yorkie,if I may ask? |

| Did you get your Yorkie at 6 weeks of age? Yorkies should really stay with their parents atleasttttt 10 but 12 is ideal. Reputable breeders don't give their pups away until 12 weeks of age, because so much can go wrong. Your Yorkie is a cutie, does look a tiny bit different, could be red legged, but also what kind of breeder did you get your Yorkie from? Did you know dogs can be pregnant by more than one dog at a time? Yes, they can mate with more than one dog. Does your breeder breed other dogs? There are so many variables. Also, did you know they have silky coats and cotton coats? Different coats can appear in the same litter. Your pup is very cute, be careful about letting them climb high like that they can hurt themselves very quickly. Welcome to YT!

| Cutie pie! It's possible, but she might need to be older before you can tell for sure. A red-legged Yorkie will have reddish hair instead of tan and it's hair won't get long.

| She is adorable. She does not look like a red legged yorkie to me. You will be able to tell more when she gets older. Lots of luck with her.

I just wanted to say that the picture of your baby at 6 weeks was toooooo adorable. I forgot to say that when I last wrote. Her little paws up by her face like that. I wouldn't care what she was either. Now I learned something new again. Do you know why there are red legged yorkies,I mean how are they bred to be like this? And why do they call them legged? Just curious. So,someone online who used to live here once upon a time, huh. How far from here is where you live now?

Luckily you ended up with a healthy baby and are doing all the right things in caring for her...good job! I looked at all the pictures and I think either she is a mix but more inclined to think Red Legged, can't wait to see what she looks like in a few months. Stick around and learn all you can and add to the experience you gained having owned small pups previously! There is a ton of info here. Good luck!

| We have been told by a couple of breeders that our Laddy is a redleg Yorkie. His legs actually are a lot redder than most and his coat never grows to the floor.

| You will have to see how his coat comes in as an adult to know. The hair on the legs of a red leg are usually short and the coat can be wirey
