| I would say that possibly a different chew toy might be safer. I am not a vet by any means but I would guess that anything foreign that is consumed could possibly cause ill affects.

| I find that Loki shreds and chews and spits out the paper, he doesn't eat it. I'm sure it's OK if you watch them. He goes absolutely crazy when he finds an empty water bottle because he LOVES to tear the paper off the bottle. It's like the best thing that he could even find, better than socks, better than anything. He also loves when we go to Grandma's house because I feed him in a paper bowl and he gobbles his food down and then steals the bowl. Be careful though, I had to train Loki not to grab receipts that fall on the floor or he'd destroy them before I could record how much I spent! Tissue paper at Christmas was fun too! Better than the gifts!

| My only worry (besides him eating it) is that your teaching him its okay to play with paper, which might not be so fun if he gets in to something you wanted.

| Jess used to LOVE to shred paper, empty toilet rolls etc when she was a pup and I used to find it funny until my vet told me to stop her doing it.Paper gets soggy and can easily get trapped in their windpipe and its very hard to get it out because it sticks to the walls of the throat once wet. I must admit that I had no problems in all the time Jess shredded paper towels etc,but I stopped her doing it once my vet told me this. Its better to be safe that sorry A good chew toy when they are teething is an old sock with a knot in it.They can chew that and swing it around and it stays intact. Also,I used a pacifier I went to the chemist and bought a whole rubber pacifier (can you get those in the us?) which are practically unbreakable and both Lady and Jess LOVED them, they still have one each now and cant get enough of it lol. This is the pacifier Im talking about: If you can get them there, they are the best kind Last edited by Gina1978; 01-07-2006 at 04:47 PM. |

| I've never met a dog who didn't love to tear up paper. What's with them? But this one has it down to a delicate art. The other day I left her in the car for a few minutes. I had an oversized birthday card on the dash to take to the PO to get weighed for postage. Susie delicately stripped off the envelope and shredded it but didn't damage the card. Is that weird or what? |

| Kleenx in this house is not safe. It becomes snow if one young lady can get to it. Openning chrismas gifts and shredding the paper is yons of fun. As long as it is not eaten and you do not mind cleaning up the mess once and a while is no big deal. Joy |
