A Little Help Please?

A couple weeks ago my yorkie, Paisley, was either dropped by a 5 year old OR fell off the sofa. We couldn't get the truth out of the girls I was babysitting at the time. She started flopping around like a fish out of water. She couldn't really walk. She was limping and I made my husband take her to the Vet Hospital immediately. After checking her out, the assured me nothing was broken but thought the flopping around was a seizure, perhaps because she wasn't acting normal and had some swollen (something?) around the brain. She stayed at the vet all day until closing where she came home. We have moved now and two weeks since this episode she is not holding her neck up normal. It's tilted to one side pretty far. She stumbles a lot as well. So, I took her to the vet here in Texas to get some questions answered and make sure she was okay. The vet said there was nothing I could do and that this was a result of the seizure. They checked her ears so no ear infection. The vet said she isn't in pain and she doesn't even know she is holding her neck awkward.

Has anyone had a yorkie that help their neck crooked for a bit? I really want to know if she will overcome it and it go back to normal???

I agree. I would take your little girl to a neurologist immediately. I'm shocked that the vet you took her to did not suggest further testing and treatment. This is going to get worse if not treated.

Where are you in Texas? You really need to get this pup to a specialist ASAP. This sounds very serious.

Surely the initial vet advised you about further testing such as an MRI. Yes, it is very expensive but with an injury like that, simple xrays are not always going to tell a vet what is going on.

Your pup is your responsiblity and she is dependent on you! I don't mean to sound harsh, but if you cannot afford to take care of her then surrender her to someone who can. Even if it is a rescue. Bottom line, she needs to be seen ASAP!!!

Oh gosh...your poor baby! Like others have said, I'd seek out another vet IMMEDIATELY. Something could be very very wrong here - and if it's with her neck, you need to know ASAP. Didn't the vet even want to xray her neck?

She walks just fine. She will occasionally lose her balance. It's only her neck that is "tilted".

and this is normal to you? as all above had advised see a specialist ASAP. This sounds very serious. OR surrender her to a rescue, if you love this lil girl help her. This is not normal to loose her balance and have a tilted neck.

I hope you seriously don't think a "tilted" neck and being off balance is normal. Please bring her to another vet/specialist as others have mentioned.

I am sorry your baby was injured but losing balance and a tilted head is serious. I recommended a neurologist I am surprised your vet did not recommend this immediately. Think about it size proportion wise. If you fell off a second floor balcony and had convulsions after landing, your head being permanently tilted now and you loose balance would you not get more than an x-ray for your self?
Please do what is right and have your Yorkie seen by a Neurologist. Prayers for your Yorkie.
