| This story really makes me sick, it's one of the worst things I've ever read. I hope the vet rots in prison and then hell and his staff suffers appropriate consequences too. Quote:
I would think that since they have an obscure, giant breed they'd know more than the average pet owner. I just can't believe someone would leave their dog at the vets for months without going to see it and that they'd decide to put it down without getting a second opinion. Yet they must care about the dog, if they didn't they wouldn't have spent the money to get him months of in office vet care (I bet it was an obscene amount). My only guess is the psychopathic vet manipulated them, "O it'll upset him too much". | |

| I live in FtWorth and thought that I was going to toss my cookies when the story broke yesterday. I have probably lost a childhood friend over my FB posting. She used this vet for years and was saying that he SAVED the dog. I gave her more details from the news report. Anyway, This man did something horrible and he will pay the price and with this one act has undone all of the good that he did do over the years. Personally I would like to know WHY,WHY would he do this. What nutty excuse does he have ,that makes this act right in his brain. |

| I in no way am defending this vet, but what owner leaves their dog at a vet for 5 months for anal gland problems??? Ummm??? Anyway, blood products are not usually stocked bc they expire and are very $$$. The dog was probably this vet's cash cow. He will be punished, but animal cruelty charges are rarely harsh. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he serves more than 90 days (and he isn't really a threat to people, so betting he is released until trial with restriction not to practice). Just guessing though.

| I know the vet is the monster of this story, but I can't help but feel angry as well towards the dad and mom. What kind of example are they giving their children by just leaving behind the body of a family member they spent 5 years with? I can understand when owners willingly hand over the bodies of their pets for the sake of research that could save the lives of more animals. It's the same dilema people have when their human family members can become organ donors. But I really doubt this was the case with poor Sid. Last edited by JuanRamos; 04-30-2014 at 10:20 PM. |

| Cold laser therapy... Since I've never heard about cold laser therapy, I thought I'd look it up and try to figure out why Sid's health went south after his treatment. Cold laser therapy is considered a non-invasive holistic treatment, meant to stimulate endorphins and the metabolism of the treated site. Here's an article about cold laser therapy from the AKC website: Laser Therapy for Dogs | AKC Canine Health Foundation The dog is supposed to be able to go home between each treatment, so I can't imagine why the owners left Sid at the vet for several months while he received treatment. Perhaps his anal gland issues were worse than the news stories mention. However, from what transpired, Dr. Tierce, the vet, sounds like a quack who was experimenting on Sid. And according to the lawyer's account, Sid's back problem was due to Sid falling off a table during treatment. What a horror story! I'm glad that Dr. Tierce is no longer able to practice, but now I wonder about the other vet who works at the clinic. Did he know about everything that happened to Sid? They share the same facility, so I can't imagine that he did not know what was going on. |

| I have this on my facebook page also... I have shared so there will be more coverage. The only thing I question is.... why did the owners leave their dog at the vet so long? I am sure there is something missing in the story..or at least unclear to me.
