| Biewer Terrier recognized as a developing breed by the AKC. I just received the following breaking news from the Facebook feed of the president of the Biewer Terrier Club of America (BTCA): "DURING THE APRIL BOARD MEETING THE AKC VOTED TO RECOGNIZE THE PUREBRED BIEWER TERRIER AND ACCEPT THEM INTO THE FSS (FOUNDATION STOCK SERVICE PROGRAM) AS A DEVELOPING BREED WITHIN THE AKC." I'm not sure when Biewers will be able to be fully registered with the AKC, but this is exciting news for a breed of dog that has been on the sidelines for a while, as far as AKC recognition goes. |

| It's time they were recognized as a separate breed.

| Sorry to inform you, I just got off the phone with a customer service representative of AKC and I was informed that the Biewer breed was not a topic of the April board meeting and there were no acceptance of a new breed under the FSS program... where did you see this information? just curious? The customer service rep also went above and beyond to contact the FSS department and they conquer that no news were mentioned about this acceptance... any thoughts !!! I would really hope the Biewers are accepted... Thanks |

| OP said he where his info came from. It's pretty common in large organizations for any department not to know everything in the works within its scope or if the movement is in its nascency - hope this happens in the next few years for the good of both breeds.

| Here's the announcement. I'm not sure whether you need a Facebook account to view it: https://www.facebook.com/jonathan.da...29495437144864 [edit] I was able to log out of Facebook, and I could still view the post. Last edited by pstinard; 04-25-2014 at 10:03 AM. |

| I certainly hope it was an oversite by customer service rep. I am cheering for this breed to make the AKC, it's well deserved... I will like the post from facebook so that I can be informed of the latest information as well... Thank you again |

| I just called the AKC number and asked to be connected to the Foundation Stock Service department, and was told that their representative was out for the day . They did say that the representative responds quickly to emails, so I will try that and get back as soon as I can get an official announcement from the AKC. |

| This is big news on many fronts for biewer breeders especially because some clubs recognize them as Yorkies and some as a separate breed. It would force them to come together which would be a good thing
