| leaving my yorkie I know I asked a smililar questions before, but I will be having to leave my baby home for 8 hours a day all alone. I am not sure how she is going to cope. I have bought her an xpen and she has plenty of toys, but I dont own any other animals for her to play with. Does anyone else leave their baby home for 8hrs alone? I feel so guilty. Please hlp with any advice you have. Thanks |

| In the winter I am home practically all day,but in the summer I am out ALL day, sometimes more than 8 hours.I leave them in the living room where they have their toys, their beds, their food, water and pads and I leave the radio on so they dont feel so alone. They have always been fine, they mostly sleep when we go out.Just make sure theirs nothing she can choke on or anything dangerous that she can chew and she should be fine |

| My guy is over a year old now and is just fine being left alone. Most trainers will tell you that dogs sleep 16 hours in a day. Your baby might act like she misses you, but your yorkie will be just fine! Trust me! Most people have to work and still raise very happy and loving animals. You are putting more pressure on yourself than anything! FYI...leave a TV on or music playing while you are gone. Make sure you give your baby kongs or something that will keep the smart mind going! Good luck. Don't put so much pressure on yourself. One idea is to find a dog walker a few days a week (they can be expensive if they are licensed) to allow your dog to get fresh air and a walk!

| I leave my girl home alone about 6 hours 4 days a week. Starting next week it will probably be more like 8 hours per day. She does fine. I'm pretty sure she sleeps most of day. She is always very excited when I get home and plays hard most of the evening. On the weekends when we are all home she doesn't get near as much sleep and acts exhausted in the evenings. I'm sure your dog will adapt and be just fine.

| An ideal situation would be to have someone come in the middle of the day to take her out. Is she trained to pee pee pads?? If not someone coming in would be about the only way you could do it. Alot of neighbors I bet would be happy to make even a few dollars a week and it would be something for her to look forward to until you got home. Always give her treat when you leave and she will start wanting you to leave and not be pineing away for you to come home. The radio is a great idea like someone said .

| I might add that I never leave a harness or collar on them as they could get it hooked on something, and not be able to break loose. I just started taking her berets/bows out of her hair, and using a little jel to slick the topknot back, because I recently caught her chewing on one. I recently had guests over for munchies before we went out to a New Years Eve dinner, and luckily my parents came over and got her within ten minutes of my leaving. When they walked in the door, she had her pretty nose in the nut dish. Not good! If you leave your Yorkie in the laundry room, it is a good idea to turn the washing machine water off. If it breaks, your Yorkie could drown. Do not leave any toilet lids up. Hope this helps.

| For 10 years I worked and Sabrina was home alone. She did fine. She had her toys and food out and plenty of water, I'd go home for lunch when I could and if I had to work late luckily I could run home and make sure she had supper and return to work. She didn't ever have a problem with it. They adjust to our lives so easily it's easy to take advantage. I just gave her plenty of lap time when I got home.

| Leaving Yorkie I work full time leaving my house at 6:15 a.m. and getting home at 3:15. Muffin is in her 2' X 4' x-pen. The x-pen has her dog bed, water, pee pad and toys. I leave the Cartoon channel on for her all day too! I do have someone come in at noon to let her out and take she and Biscuit for a short walk. It absolutely BREAKS MY HEART to leave her alone all day but I have no choice. Recently my hubbie and I discussed putting her in the master bathroom which is much larger than the x-pen. She's never chewed on furniture at all so I don't think I have to worry about her chewing on the vanity. I think she'll enjoy having more space where she can romp a bit more. I long for the day when I give her the run of the house like her big brother has but she's only 6 1/2 months old so that won't be happening for awhile. Try not to feel too guilty leaving your baby. So many of us do it and our dogs are thriving. Just make sure to give your baby lots and lots of love when you are home, which I'm SURE you do? |

| I also leave Baby home while I am at work (7:40-3:30). I have a playpen for her that is pretty big. It's on sale for 69.99 at Petco.com. I actually don't have it in the shape of a hexagon, I have it in a rectangle shape. On one side I put the pee pee pad. On the other side I have her little crate with her bed inside covered with a towel, a water bottle attached to the side (because sometimes she dumped over the water), her dry food, and her toys. I leave a t-shirt of mine that I've already worn on her bed and a Teddy Bear about her size like it's her mommy. Of course, Baby doesn't like when I put her in the pen b/c she knows I will be leaving. I also don't leave a collar on her. And DON"T leave those paper/diaper pee pee pads if you can because I did once and baby tore it up! I think they do that b/c they are upset you are not around. Good luck. Your baby will be fine.

| I sometimes have to leave Kelsey alone while I'm working...but often have my boyfriend to help me out with her. I wouldn't give your baby toys that she can hurt herself with. Like squeaky toys or ones with eyes and noses she can rip off and choke on since she'll be left alone for a while without supervision. I reccommend taking her potty right before you leave and right when you return. And give her extra love when your home to let her know how much you care for her. Good luck.
