| Tinsel Update. not good. Just got off the phone with the vet. Tinsel had a long series of sezuires last night. and is barely responding to treatment. She's recomanding to put him to sleep. no sooner he comes out of one he's having another. I'm heartbroken. and not sure what to do. She said if they could stablized him, there might be brain damage. and a host of other troubles. he wasn't eating well before. and she was telling me that he aslo had a cleft lip? {I know about human babies is it the same for a puppy??} I'm calling her with my decesion in an hour. I know my heart says save him. but my brain says he's suffering. sigh.... any one with any ideas?? Eggs

| OMG, yes cleft lip is the same for Yorkies as humans. They frequently have other developmental problems in the same organs that are forming when the cleft lip/palate occurs. In other words, rarely are we lucky enough to see an isolated congenital defect; sometimes there are heart or neuro problems. I had a human foster baby years ago who had a severe cleft palate/lip. He also had fused fingers and toes, mental retardation AND dextrocardia-his heart was on the right side. Those things all happenend at the same time during development in the utersu. I am just giving you some more info that might or might not play into your decision..Best of luck and prayers are being said. |

| Tinsel The vet believes 5-6 weeks old. if he's lucky. I'm thinking I'm going to have to put him down. so far what I research on the net. kinds gives me the idea it would be better for him. He's a little peke/pom/yorkie cross that I adopted from some people who couldn't care for him. I've his sister who I got from the owner who was giving them away Christmas eve. She's doing super. I just got him from the poeple who took him and they were feeding him hard kibble and kept him outside with thier Rott. not knowing the whole story anything could have happen. they called me and asked me if I'd buy him from them for the ten dollars I offered them that night. I got him on Sunday. and I knew he was having troubles. alittle vent some people are just jerks. and I get nagged at cause I'm a dairy farmer. dang. I love my GIRLS! yes there cows but I handraised all of them from day one right along with thier Mamas. and I'd be shot if I'd do this to another animal. vent off.

| Sounds like you putting him to sleep, might be the best option for him, Poor little guy, that is so sad, but you did your best and helped them out, and still have his sister.. after what whispermom2 said, I think that would be your only option, and I'm sure the vet would not steer you in the wrong direction. I'm sorry you have to make such a hard decision.

| I will be out for the day with another member whose Yorkie and sis died suddenly. You will be on the minds of both of us as we share the day. I pray that the answer will come to you in such a clear manner(I prefer to think that God lets us know the answer, and that we have the wisdom to know He is telling us) that you will have no doubts about the morlity of your decision. I will back you in whatever you decide as others on here will. BTW, if you do not believe in God, I apologize if I have offended you. |

| I am so, so sorry. The decision to put down is the hardest, I think sometimes harder than losing them suddenly because you wrestle with yourself so on if it's the right thing to do. You're a very caring, giving person, I can tell that from just reading you. You tried your best to give him a really loving home, and that's more than you could have ever done for him. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that you are doing well with your decision, which from the sounds of everything sounds like the right one.

| I'm so sorry to hear this. Just know that the love that you gave him in his final days were enough for him to have a happy life. If you had not stepped in he would have passed a very sad and lonely pup. He was lucky to have you even for the short time he did. God bless.

| pup Best wishes to you. It is very heartbreaking..but please know this little puppy was so fortunate to have found you. He is no doubt meant to be an angel in doggie heaven, instead of an angel on earth..sorry. |
