| Question about puppy growth My husband and I were discussing how much Daisy changed between 7 weeks old and 8 weeks old when she was a puppy. We first saw her at 5 weeks and she was a little black haired cutie with a calm personality. We visited her at 6 and 7 weeks and she was pretty much the same. When we went to pick her up at 8 weeks old to bring her home her looks had changed so much we were astonished. Her thick cotton hairs had fluffed out and she looked like a little powder puff. When her breeder handed her to me she was so squirmy that I could barely hold her. At the time we didn't think she was a different puppy but just the other day we were talking and wondering if she was a different puppy than the one we actually bought. The breeder only had two Yorkies and one litter which was a smaller boy and larger girl pup which was our Daisy. He did make mention that his family wanted to keep the girl pup but he wanted to sell her. My question is this. Does a puppy usually change that much in appearance and personality between 7 and 8 weeks of age? If he did swap another puppy for Daisy I think it was the luckiest swap in the world because we love her to pieces. But still we wonder. We now know that 8 weeks was early to bring her home but that was 10 years ago and he said his vet approved the pups to go then and she turned out fine.

| Thanks, Ann. I guess it's kind of strange to wonder about this after 10 years but it was funny how as we were remembering back on this it just occurred to us that it was a big change for just one week. Like I said, if they did switch the puppy I am extremely grateful that they did.

| I have never experienced any major changes in a weeks time at that age, however the size of a newborn can really change in a weeks time

| We had those same questions with our Kyra for a long time. She was to us when we picked her up lots bigger in just one week but now with her only 3lbs after she eats at 2 years old we are glad she was bigger. If they pulled a switch I cannot image how tiny the other little girl is and I certainly would not want her smaller than she already is.

| There should not be such a major change in one weeks time. Hair does grow longer from the time they are born but not in such great spurts. There are all kinds out there. If you don't know the people or have great references anything is possible. I hope your baby has calmed enough for you to hold her without her squirming all the time! |
