| How long would a 12 lb bag of Wellness last? I am trying to figure out how long a 12 lb bag of Wellness small breed puppy food will last for my yorkie. I am wanting it to auto deliver so I get a discount off of it. I will be using 1/2 cup per day. If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

| Hi, I don't use Wellness but I bought a 12 lb. bag of Cannine Caviar and both of mine get 1/2 cup a day. I felt the bag got stale before they finished it. I am going to start getting 2 of the smaller bags instead of one big bag. It may be more expensive but I feel it won't get stale before it's gone.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It's approximately 2.5 cups per pound, but it varies because some kibble is bigger than others and less can fit in a cup then with small kibble. So a 12 pound bag has approximately 30 cups (12x2.5=30) and if you use a 1/2 cup a day, that should last you two months. If you are having problems with staleness, put in another bag that can be closed tightly and remove all excess air first. Wellness has better bags than they use to.

| I even bought a big airtight container that I put the bag of dog food in (after I squeeze all the air out) and I feel it still gets stale. The 12 pound bag I have now I bought the end of November and I am getting ready to throw out what is left because I don't feel it is fresh anymore. I just feel getting two smaller bags is the way to go for me.

YT 2000 Club Member | dog Just make sure you have enough on hand. I buy two bags and it lasts my two Yorkies about two weeks. I close it and tape the lip down and put it in an air tight container. Mine eat the Super 5mix complete health chicken base food. I put the canned chicken stew in it. Just a little. Very tasty. Spud is lookin like a blimp I need to cut his back! |

I can smell the difference, and the kibble looks drier. Fresh kibble has a slightly oily film. Maybe it is more noticeable with Fromm. The dogs start eating slower. Teddy will ultimately turn up his nose.

| One of the ways you can cut out the staleness of your dog food is to put in Ziplock bags and stick it in the freezer and take a bag out when u need it. |

YT 1000 Club Member | 12 lbs is way too big for a single Yorkie to consume it, before it goes bad. I know it's nice to save money, but, that's not the area. I wouldn't buy several 4 lb bags and freeze them either. Gotta be some other way to cut your costs. Get a single 4 pounder, AND keep it tightly sealed until it's gone.

| Thanks everyone. I appreciate it. I will be feeding my yorkie and chihuahua the small breed puppy food, but only for 1 month until my yorkie is going to be a year old. Then I will switch him to the adult formula. But I might have to switch to the smaller bags since they will be eating different formulas.
