| New here and excited to be adding a sweet Yorkie (or 2?) to our family Hi all! Glad I found this forum! I've been reading on here off and on the past few days. I grew up as a child with a yorkie, and have had 3 others after my first one. When my husband and I got married and started having children, we held off on bringing a puppy into our family until we were finished having children and our youngest became old enough to understand about having a puppy. We have reached that point now and are ready to add to our family! I have been looking around online for respected breeders within reasonable driving distance of my home here in East TN. Although I haven't decided on one yet, we have already began preparing our home for the arrival of our new little addition. And lately I have been tossing around the idea of bringing home 2 little ones. It's been several years since my last yorkies so I feel new to this whole thing again in a sense. Also, I never had to housebreak any of my puppies in the past either because I brought them home already housebroken or my parents did the job of that as a child. So...I would LOVE any recommendations for websites, videos, or books that make housebreaking simple for a first timer! Thank you! ~Julia~ |

| Welcome to YT! If you look through the "General Training Questions" section or do a search on what ever the subject you'd like to learn about, you'll find a lot of info. There are a lot of knowlegable members who are all very willing to share their experiences and offer advice. If you don't find anything through the search engine, then just post. I find that most posts get replies pretty fast. Good luck finding a new member of your family! |

| Two is better than one! I was down to one yorkie who was 4 when my first two original Yorkies passed away a few years ago. They were a year apart and so close. When all I had left was my 4 yr old, I could tell that even though he liked being an only child, he was bored! So after a few years (last Spring) after going back and forth I decided to get two! They are the best and do get along but do have their moments as we all know Yorkies can be very bossy! I even took the plunge and got a third a few months later. The pups are great playmates for one another and my old yorkie, is finally getting along with them! Love my Benjamin, Barkley, Bailey and Bentley. |

| Welcome, and congratulations on re-entering the wonderful world of having Yorkies! My boys are both pad and outdoor trained. I blogged about how we approached training: Potty Training Small Dogs - Dog Life and Style

Thank you for the warm welcome! I am definitely considering siblings. Good or bad idea, you think? We'll spay/neuter them so could go with boy and girl or girl/girl. I think I remember reading somewhere that having one or each reduces aggressiveness between them. | ||
