brand new here My name is Bev. I just adopted a little guy who is about 1 year old. I haven't owned this breed before and know little going into it. The history on this puppy is that he was born in a mill where he was rescued from early on. Then from there given to a co worker friend of the rescuers. That gal dearly loved him....but she was at work all day and her son at school so she put an ad on CL and I saw it and answered it. About a week later we met and I brought little "Joey" home. She wasn't a puppy flipper like you read about. She just wanted a good home for him. I text her pics of Joey and updates, it's an "open adoption" ... Anyway, so it's been one week today since Joey has come home. He's done well and it so smart I'm taken aback, many time a day. He's a lot of work, but I expected that part. He's also a great deal of Joy....hence the name "Joey" :-) He makes me laugh with his running through the house...his looonggg body stretch...crawls on the floor... it's so fun to watch him I have a hard time imagining how hard it was for her to give him up. The first thing I bought for him was a small kong and a soft toy with attached blanket...he LOVES both of them. He loves to play tug of war with the blanket and chew the heck out of the soft toy attached to it. The kong he adores getting treats out of...it so fun to watch him. The most challenging part for me has been his kennel training (on going). Since he was left in one for so many hours he has been fearful of it. I've done a bunch of lurking on here which is how I found out how to desensitize him...and how to help him actually like his "den". He's in it now...at my feet ...where he can see me...lol. He keeps popping his eye open and going back to sleep...just checkin' I guess. We reached a big milestone today when he actually went into it by himself and laid down. I keep it open to him all the time unless it's his nap time or I'm out of the room. In the beginning he'd cry and bark...but he's much, much, much better now. I will say it's a lot like having a new baby...which to me he is. He's a keeper. did I mention how smart he is? I'll try to post some pics tomorrow, it's after midnight here in Washington State (GOOOO Hawks!!!) Didn't really mean to write a book here...lol...just finally had a few minutes to join and write a post. thanks for being here :-) Bev

Sounds like you may be coming down with Yorkie fever. He sounds like a Yorkie dream. They have very distinct attributes.

Thanks so much Thanks so much everyone for the warm welcome! Much appreciated I am trying to post pics but for some reason I'm getting an error message except for the avatar pic. I'm working on it, I'm wondering if it's my computer. I'll keep trying.

It is usually because they are too big. You need to resize them to be smaller then 200kb. Most likely not your computer
