YT Addict | Bad scare tonight! Tonight we had a party at my grandparents place to watch the Iron Bowl, and I had brought my two little girls over since its only right across the road. At halftime, we took them outside to use the potty. I had Lilly Annes leash on her but Ellie just had her harness on. They were playing around and stuff and then out of nowhere Ellie took off running into the field beside their house where my cousins and little brother were playing and when I looked to call her my great aunt, who is my grandparents neighbor, huge dog was out in the field with them and Ellie was heading straight for him. I took off running and thankfully my cousin grabbed the big dogs back legs and yanked it just as it snapped at Ellie and as my 65 pound cousin was trying to wrestle this 150 pound dog that was growling and snapping at my dog I scooped Ellie up really quickly. Ellie never even listened when I called her name to get her to stop. It was really scary and i have no doubt in my mind that dog would have badly hurt Ellie or even worse. Please keep on eye on your babies. Its scary how something like that can happen so fast.

| How scary!! I'm so glad Ellie is okay. I always think about that so I always have Izzy on a leash.

| Very scary. I am glad everything turned out okay. One of my worst fears is Lexi will get away from me and something awful will happen to her. Gotta be careful. |

YT Addict | Usually both of mine are always on the leash except in my backyard because its fenced in. This was just one of those times that for some reason I just didn't think about it.

| Wow!! So happy there was a happy ending to this story. Thanks for your story and reminding me that things can/do happen in a moment! Our little ones are sooo smart at a LOT of things, but commanding a 'come' doesn't always register with mine. I find this is the case mostly when we're o/s. He gets on a tangent (usually a smell of another dog's scent from urine I figure, but hey, I'm not a dog) and, apparently, I have left this earth as he makes no motion to do as I had commanded. Having said that, other times he will 'make' his way own way back, in his own good time. Silly boy! Some of the time he'll run right past me to say, 'Ya I hear you mom, but I'm not ready yet. Tell you when I am.' In these cases I go up to him and he is on the leash again. Who's the REAL mama here! Most of the time he is my treasure and I know that I would feel terrible if anything happened to him because of my carelessness Needless to say, he is usually in his harness and on his leash. Here in British Columbia, I certainly scan the skies for hawks and eagles. As I'm sure he looks like a tasty treat from up above, I certainly don't want to envision my baby being carried away!!! That would be terrible. Anyways, so far, so good! Oh, and of course, there are the coyotes and raccoons to be on the look out for. I have a ground floor patio, and I use a strong flashlight when it's dark for Bailey to go o/s and I go first to inspect and then give the go ahead for Bailey to proceed I tell ya, the things we do for them. The way I figure is - surely he should be doing somersaults in air for me by now. haha I'll work on that. |

| Sad but true. Yorkie owners have more to fear from big dogs than 'real' wild animals.

| Yikes glad she is ok. This is why mine is always on a leash no matter what unless she is in a fenced area.

YT Addict | It is very scary how fast things can happen. I live out in the country and so I am always on the lookout for hawks or coyotes or snakes and things like that since it is so common in my area. I literally took my eyes off Ellie for like half a second. It just goes to show you how precious and careful you have to be with these babies. I have had Ellie for about two years now and have never had any scares with her or Lilly Anne, but this definitely was a reminder for me just how careful you have to be.
