| 7month old female weighs 11 pounds I got my first yorkie baby when she was right at 9 weeks old. She was teeny tiny @ 2lbs 13oz. In mid August she was up to 6lbs, now she is 7 months old and a whopping 11pounds! She is by no means fat and she is quite active. Is this normal? Is she gonna be a giant! I have within the past couple of weeks noticed her gettin some dark nipples and her "nunu" has sort of dropped to the back. I really don't know if she has had her first cycle or if this is it. Please advise. Thanks |

| Welcome to YT! I can't advise you on if she has gone into heat as I have always had boy dogs, but I can say that yorkies come in all sizes. You might want to check out the YT "teapot" club. Sounds like your baby will fit right in! Looking forward to photos!

YT 1000 Club Member | She may be going into heat...when Roxie was beginning her first heat cycle her "nunu" (hehe) dropped a bit and became more noticeable. Sounds like you have a future teapot on your hands. |

| Sounds like she's going to be a loveable teapot. It does sound like she's going into heat.

| Thanks so much. Although I am not familiar with the "teapot" phrase, I can certainly picture my LuLu as one! |

| There are many Yorkies on here that are bigger mine is 17 pounds. I'm not sure about heat though because I had mine spayed before her first heat to lower the risk of mammory cancer.

| A 'teapot' is a term of endearment for yorkies that are over the 7 pound standard

| It's just a play on the word "teacup" that so many call the teenier babies. So.. teapot for the bigger ones.

YT 1000 Club Member | Yes, the weight minimum for The YT Teapot Club is 7.1 lbs. We'd love to see an application for Lulu. The main Thread for that Forum can be located here... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...apot-club.html There is a brief Application Criteria which we like to see for the applicants, and that can be found here... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/4263886-post846.html

| Yorkies were often 15-20 lbs back in England, and it can happen that genes from one of those large ancestors gets expressed in yorkie pups here with standard sized parents.

It's amazing that the Mother can keep up with nursing. I remember my Breeder quite some years ago, "warning" me about it, and saying that She hadn't had one that matured out under 8 pounds yet.
