| Its will be very hard to almost impossible to to find a reputable breeder who does this because they breed to better the breed and in order to do that they breed yorkies that are the perfect example of the breed meaning they follow the standard. I wish we could have two classes of yorkies kinda like some other breeds because I have a 17 pounder and I absolutely love the bigger yorkies

| Even with the best planned breeding and best pedigree once in awhile a breeder will get a surprise of a very oversize. That can happen in any purebred dog and they are sold for pet only. Check around someone may have something. An example of what to look for, at 12 weeks if a pup is 4 lbs you know it is not going to be small more like 8 lbs full size if not more. |

YT 1000 Club Member | It may be a little hard to judge the Adult weight, but, I'd bet if you contacted some of your local breeders, that they would have or know of someone who had larger Dogs. Finding a larger Yorkie is not all that hard now a days.

| I would follow Lorraines suggestion and buy the breeder first. Even the larger yorkies if not well bred can have horrible health issues. Welcome and good luck in your search.

| I wish!! lol... I began looking into Silky Terriers, but know they are a different breed. More energy, more terrierness, IMO... but they also tend to be bigger and a bit more robust.

| So NOT true! It is in the pedigree BEHIND the breeding pair. I have a female that weighs 7-8 lbs. She is my go-to girl for pulling size down from a larger male that I have....both these dogs weigh around 7-8 lbs, but they throw 4-5# babies. The puppies are all sold on spay neuter basis, because breeding any of these babies would eventually begin to throw large yorkies that bust the standard.....but from THIS breeding pair, both large yorkies, come some of the most adorable little, perfect sized, totally within the standard, offspring. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Have you considered looking at a rescue? It's a sad thing, but I've seen many dogs larger sized pups placed in rescues and shelters because they no longer fit in someone's purse. Good luck in your search, where ever you end up. The bigger the Yorkie, the more to love (Proud owner of a 15 pound bundle of awesomeness)

| 12 to 15 pound yorkies not looking to breed...............want as a pet,,,,,,,,,,,a yorkie that is not tiny and fragile.....................when you are in europe, you consistently see robust size yorkies,,,,,,,,,,,that was the breed until us americans got the idea that it cute to put dogs in purses.................i want a dog that can rough and tumble...........can chase rabbits and mice,,,,,,,,,as they were originally bred to do---a dog i seek, not a "toy" |

| We often see them in rescue and there are many people who love them. I have a foster right now that is larger but I suspect he has perhaps some schnauzer in him. He is an awesome pup though. Have you searched on Petfinder? You can search using your zip code...you might just find one in rescue.
