Confused Do YOU get seperation anxiety like they do?

There are countless threads on YT discussing separation anxiety and how to diminish it...leave the tv on, give them a durable toy, play classical music...

What the heck do I do when it is ME having the anxiety? Lol! I'm going to Disney World. Leaving tonight. Won't be back til Saturday. This is the first time I've ever left either of my girls for more than a couple hours. They will be staying in our house where they are confortable and familiar, with a very good friend of mine pet sitting. I've already drilled her all the specifics and wrote her a short novel on "in case of emergency" situations like hypoglycemia and doggy Heimlich maneuver...LOL but now that the time has actually come for me to leave, I am reeeeally feeling anxious.

I finished packing and sat down, Luma immediately jumped into my lap and stared at me like what the heck is going on? And I promptly burst into tears

I know they are in good hands, and I can get updates on them whenever I want, by text or call, but.....I don't WANT to leave them behind! I feel guilty! Lol. I can't believe I feel this way. Please tell me my fellow YTers "get it". I wanted to post about how I felt on facebook but my friends would think I'm nuts comparing my dogs to my children. They are my children though.

Who else has felt anxiety or guilt for leaving their dogs behind on a vacation? Anyone...? Anyone?

Yeah, I have passed on quote a few opportunities so I could stay home with my dogs but my bf insisted we go and enjoy ourselves and spend time together. Hopefully the trip isn't 100% overtaken by me worrying about them.

Oh, gosh, I took Rory Jayne to the dentist with us yesterday bc my separation anxiety is so bad. I've had Dallas for over a year and I had to leave him to go see my dad, and then to see my son graduate from the army. It was hard, but he was here with family and I managed it (but called constantly to check on him). Rory Jayne is such a mama's girl though, idk if I'd be able to do it with her. lol I guess I could if I had to, but I'd be a mess as well.

So yes, I get it. I have no words of advice, just know that you're definitely not alone!

Oh yes I get really bad anxiety already, and having a pup is very therapeutic for me so I do get separation anxiety. I only spent a couple days away for a spring vacation with my friends, and I had my sister video chatting. And apparently even at some non sober moments want to show everyone pictures and hoe much I missed him, I hadn't even had him very long lol. Also I'm pretty sure some of my friends have felt a little offended when I turn down the idea of girls night/sleep over because I want to get back to my pup.

I'm seriously considering setting up webcams at home to look at Draco when I'm not home.
I recently went to a doggy orientation for Draco at a daycare while I'm at school, and they have webcams. It was just a test run, for 2hrs but I watched him the entire time >.< I hope that I keep my manners in class and don't get distracted with being able to watch my baby in doggy daycare on my phone lol.

I hate leaving mine. And have been lucky enough to always have family usually my daughter who use to work at a vet office. Take care of them which helps but hey I evened skyped with them when my dh and I had to be away due to his injury It's hard but try to have a good time. Them being in there own home is great That will help them be more comfortable

My anxiety has been on high lately with leaving Waffles behind. We are in process of buying a home 100 miles from here. So she's alone for 5-6 hrs when I need to go to new house and wait for inspectors ect. I can't wait till all of this is done and things go back to normal. I'd be content if I had someone with her.

Duh....I hate to leave Bella!! Myla is my lab, I also have Daisy, my chihuahua and Lacey, my Shih Tzu. The only one I really can't leave is Bella.

I hate leaving Lola, even for a few hours while my grandmom babysits her. I'd be a wreck about going on vacation.

I'm so jealous that you get to go to Disney.

I left Callie once for a 5 day vacation and was a mess and my grandmother even slept in my bed so Callie would not be messed up. My anxiety has gotten worse and I just can't do it. Also Callie will not eat for any one else and completely shuts down when I'm not around. We are to dependent on each other probably. Its also one of the reasons I only have one because I can take her every where with me she is also my Psychiatric Service Dog. When I'm going to the doctor or something I never leave her alone she stays with my Grandpa. I post about Callie on fb all the time your true friends will understand others can chose to unfriend you if they don't like it there loss. Hope you have fun and good luck. I am sure the girls will be fine!

I just hate being away from my kiddos. Life is just SO much better in quality when they're close by for a look, a cuddle, a play, what have you .

We have only been on 2 vacations since getting Rhett, and both had to be less than 6 hours away in case I needed to get home quickly. It also took us 3 months before we would leave Cali crated at home to go to the grocery store. So yes, you could say we get separation anxiety about our little ones.
