| So excited! So, I am leaving tomorrow from Southern BC to Southern Oregon to hopefully pick up a baby boy. He is 17 weeks old, and this is the first Yorkie for us, but I have had toys in the past (11 lb Maltese) Breeder is predicting this little guy will get to around 8 lbs, which is what we want. He has just traveled from Missouri to Oregon with her and his pack, so he is definitely going to be a well travelled little feller. I am bringing my sister for support, and hopefully finding a crate to borrow for the ride home. When I get him home I am planning on setting up an Xpen. I have raised 2 standard poodle puppies and this was totally necessary for them. Is this a good idea for a Yorkie puppy? Just for the times I can't be watching him. I have a 64 lb Standard Poodle that is awesome with little dogs, but I will not just leave them alone together to begin with. Any advise will be greatly appreciated!!! This is a pic of my poodle with my friend's 5 lb Yorkie female. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | CONGRATS!! So excited for you! And you must post some piccies when you can. Yes, an xpen is a great idea for when you can't be with them - we too used something similar when ours were puppies. You sound totally prepared and ready . Be sure and ask your breeder if she's noticed any hypoglycemia episodes as these are common in yorkie puppies (almost always outgrow them though). If concerned, you can always buy some Nutrical and have it on hand just in case.

| Congratulations! Is your puppy coming from Deb? I got one of Deb's puppy the beginning of this month An x-pen is a great idea! My boy is a little older than your's, but at 10 month's of age he still get's into EVERYTHING. I use the x-pen for multiple things. Blocking off the kitchen, create an enclosed area beside my side of the bed at night, and also on our balcony to keep him from sticking half his body through the balcony fence, and falling Oh, and if he is anything like my Chevy, he will get a long with your poodle just fine. Chevy tries to plays with Chihuahuas to Bull Mastiff (Yes, he tried at the vet last week lol) So excited for you!
