YT Addict | Where is her hair? My grandmother purchased a Yorkie back in July and she was born in May, but she still has slick hair! She has full AKC papers, we met the mother and father, and even had a DNA test just to make sure we were not duped and she is 100% Yorkie. Her brothers and sisters also all had regular Yorkie hair. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this issue or has seen this before? Thanks! |

| welcome to yorkie talk, you say she has been DNA'd but she sure does not look like a yorkie. She is a cute dog and probably very much part of the family by now. do you have any photos from when your grandmother first got her.

| He may be A "Red Legged Yorkie". I don't know much about it, you can read more about it here on YT. But from what I understand they are yorkies but they don't really grow hair, and if they do its wiry. I read that their litter mates may look like normal yorkies too, so maybe that's what he is. I could be wrong though..... Here is a thread about one: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...rkie-zack.html

| Yes, there is another thread on here that is very long about a short haired yorkie that no one believed was pure until a dna test proved everyone wrong! I will find it and post the link. Lots of good, interesting info about dominant vs. recessive genes. Looked almost exactly like your pup! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...then-what.html

| You're welcome. Yours is just the 2nd short hair yorkie I have ever seen, and she looks so much like Minnie! I (and many others) were just convinced she was a min pin... We all learned a lot from that thread. (Ok, I can't speak for everyone, but I certainly did)

| She is a very cute pup. I see more Chihuahua too. On the one hand her leg hair does look red, but the color placement of the rest of her coat looks very Chihuahua too. I don't think I trust the validity of the DNA tests. When you received the AKC papers, did you file with AKC and pay the filing fee or did the breeder do it? If the breeder did it, I would check with AKC to make sure they are legitimate papers. Also, some unscrupulous breeders have been know to register pups from another litter/other parents under registered parents. Regardless, she is an adorable pup.
