| I don't know if you are referring to the Pedigree brand called Dentastix but that is the one I will be talking about. My pups get them occasionally but I have heard people say that they are not particularly good for them. I have recently had two people tell me your dogs shouldn't get treats with Glycerin in them. Dentastix (Pedigree brand) have glycerin in them. But I noticed that the Wellness WellBites have "vegetable glycerin" in them and I thought these were supposed to be good treats. I would like to hear opinions from those who know more about dog food than I do. I am pretty lost when it comes to food and try to follow advice of people who understand it better than me.

| I feed my boys dentastix. Princeton is a picky eater, but he is obsessed with them. He is very persistent when he wants one and usually has one every evening after dinner. It's pretty much the only dog treat he gets or wants. However, when he was misdiagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, I took him off them because I was afraid the sodium content was too high. I did manage to find him a healthy alternative that looks exactly like the dentastix, but I know it doesn't taste the same because Princeton doesn't care for them. I think he must have known I was trying to give him health food! LOL!! They are made by the company called "Get Naked." Since I found out Princeton doesn't actually have CHF, he got to have his denta's back. And while I am happy he is chewing something( it's difficult to get him to eat dry food),it doesn't appear to be doing much for his dental heath. I still have to do general maintenance on his teeth. I am hopeful the vets will give him a medical clearance soon for his annual cleaning...but since he's been sick, they've been afraid to put him under |

| There is a chew that is very much like a dentastick but much healthier called get naked and that's what I give Callie. Anything to hard can crack and break teeth.

| They have them at Petco. Callie is a massive chewer though so I order the thicker ones called large from amazon. Petco has the thinner small ones but for most yorkies I would think that size it great!

| Vegetable glycerin is a lot better then regular glycerin and that is what is in the get naked treats. Get naked treats are also better then dentasticks because they contain no wheat, corn, soy and gluten.

| There is a brand I think called pet stages that has a toy you soak in water then put in the freezer. Callie loved that.

| I would stay away from all chew sticks. Those Naked chews have Carrageenan in them.

| I give my two bully sticks only during my supervision. When they get too short, I take them away since I don't want to risk them choking on it trying to swallow. It really helps with keeping their teeth clean. Of course, you should still brush... |
