What are some good grooming clippers and/or any tips for doing it yourself?

I have an Andis, that is still working great after about 5 years, I ordered a lot of my clipper blades from Pet Edge, they have good deals a lot. Maybe watch some grooming videos or read about it, it's not that hard but always make sure your blades do not get too hot and be very careful trimming around ears, I've seen even professionals accidently cut those!

I agree, Andis is a great brand. Oster too.

For ears, I use a smaller mustache trimmer and always move on the flat surface of the ear flap. Never go up the edge such that the thin flap would go into the blades. The Wahl Peanut is also great for smaller areas like paws.

I use a Andis and a Wahl Peanut. These work well on our toy poodle and both of the yorkies.
