I am so jealous too. Duchess will bark at anything and everything. Fortunately she will stop barking if I call her name in a stern voice. I have a love, hate relationship with her barking. Max is almost 20 weeks now. He just started barking last week. Before that if his sisters barked he sat under me, they have loud voices and it scared him. Now he gets into the fun barking at the UPS guy and people dumb enough to walk on our sidewalk! They'll teach them to not walk by their play yard! As there is three dogs wildly barking at them! I also encourage barking at the backyard neighbors who bought the house then made their backyard and garage into a daycare for 30 kids! try have 30 kids and three dogs with just a fence between them!

Baily is 4.5 yo and he hears things we don't, so it is sometimes a shock when he barks. It is a bit ridiculous how often he barks, but it is always for a reason. Don't worry, yours will bark one day too

Max did not bark until he was almost 6 months old. Now he is in love with his voice.

We brought Teddy home when he was about 8 months old. He rarely barked his first year. Now he barks along with his brother.

In my case, Zoey "taught" Magnus how to howl. Now any time they hear sirens, they both howl. But I have to say that Magnus's howl sound little... awkward. LOL

Haha! I'm sure Magnus' howl is adorable. The howls crack me up. I read that howling is often a dog's way of sending long distance messages.

Teddy has been extra vocal the last few days. I keep asking him what happened to my quiet little guy. He is feeling full of himself.

Bailey notices the sirens too, as well as planes, however he hasn't taken up the attribute of howling.

This brings to mind that when children are playing in the playground, which is right behind our small backyard, he'd bark and want to protect 'his' space and 'his' people. He couldn't see them because of our fence, so I'd pick him up to show him the children, saying 'it's just the children playing'. Now he's good with that when I tell him, and no need to show him anymore. Having said that, I do from time to time to reiterate 'the children playing', as he loves people and children in particular. I also did this when we got our roof done, as well as the gardeners. I'd take him o/s to show him and tell him 'the men working'. This works well with other people working o/s as well. Mum's the word Sometimes I think he barks at the unknown, so showing him takes the guessing out. At least that's from a 'person's' point of view. In his own mind he may just be laughing at me and thinking I'm crazy

Woah time flies! Bentley is now 3 years old.! Still does not bark (unless there's someone outside the door). And he never cries or whimpers, not even for attention or when he begs for food.

Cody age 5 yo is really not a barker meaning he doesn't bark for nothing. But he will hear things I cannot like a fly flying over Alaska or like another member put it, hearing an ant crossing the road lol. Enjoy the silence while you have it lol and PRAY your pup NEVER argues with you using his LOUD voice lol.

Grayson has something to say about everything. He likes to argue and tells me no all the time. He also tells me to pick toys up when he is the one who drops them or if he loses something under the couch. Now I got him to pick up what he drops but not with out some sass. Yeah hes a bit of a brat

Yeah, I did the stupid thing and TAUGHT Chewie how to bark and growl. Thank goodness I came to my senses before teaching her howling, too. it's why that cute little rrrr rrrr roaowww rrr on her growls and I love you yip has that sound at the end.

She now is furious at the neighbor's dog and barks (or growls now, which is more of the time) most of the evening. The neighbors leave the house and the dog goes to town. I got the hiccups the other day (something that happens when I get REALLY upset)went looking for the sound. Found the neighbor across from us with the screen door locked, and this yorkie mix just barking up a storm. No one in sight. It happens the condo is less than 10 feet away.

If I hadn't have done that, while the pack might have taught her, she was older and it might have been less. Chews has something to say about everything now. Yip if I'm on computer, bark if a dog is barking, growl if daughter is teasing her. My point is don't worry about her being silent. Puppy will learn. Truuuuust me. That high pitched shrieking they do HURTS
