| I see that here all the time, the dog left inside the k-9 unit, but it was in the cooler months. Good for you for reporting it, hope he won't do that again to his partner.

| If the office staff was aware that the dog was out there in that heat they were also negligent for not intervening on behalf of the dog. Probably to intimidated by the uniform. |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Totally ridiculous. There was a new report of a similar situation where the K-9 was not so lucky. The dog was found dead in the back of the officers car. So very sad and there is absolutely no excuse for it. I do believe her is being charges but I may be wrong. | Good for you! I'd also contact the media to help bring attention to it and serve as education on the dangers of leaving pets (and people) in the car. |

Thankfully I have never actually come across any dogs left in hot cars because I WOULD smash a window to release the dog and to hell with the consequences A dog's life is a million times more important than a car which is, after all, just a lump of metal to get us from A to B.

I just love how they call it an "accidental death". Accidental my bohonkus. Ignorance is not the same as stupidity. That officer was plain stupid. How does a K9 officer "accidentally forget" that his partner is in the car? Unbelievable.

| Good for you for reporting it. He should have left the car running if he wasn't comfortable taking them both in at the same time.

If I were you, I'd follow up with a call to his superior - just to double check the message got through to the right person. Just unbelievable !

| Exactly! When I voiced my concern about the dog, I was told "Oh, he's fine, we can see him." I asked them if they knew that it was 86* outside, and probably 100+ in the car! They said that the officer would be right out, but he wasn't! I left a message for the vet to call me, but she had been in surgery for most of the day. That dog was already very excited and in attack mode when he saw Ian and me. That made the situation for the dog worse!
