| Another member here recently brought her first girl home with an undocked tail. She chose her breeder first and made arrangements for when the litter was born to have the pup's tail left undocked.

| You will probably have to find a reputable breeder and then wait for them to have a litter and not dock one if the tails but not sure they will do that. Reputable breeders breed to the standard and that means docking the tail so it may be hard if not impossible to find a reputable breeder who does this.

| Have you looked at rescues, Yorkie rescues or even shelters? I know Yorkies are hardly there, but my friend just adopted a Yorkie Mix at the shelter- she is cute as a button.

| Yea I kind of thought of the idea of finding a breeder with an expectant litter. So much variables that might make it harder. |

| I think that Maximo might have been referring to me. I got a little girl a few weeks ago & requested her tail be undocked. Prima is the pup in my avatar. My breeder has some European show dogs & she likes to keep with the tradition by keeping a few from each litter undocked. So she was more than happy to grant my request Tail or no tail, I love my breeder & I had an exceptional experience working with her. She's in NH & she doesn't ship. I'm in the NYC area & she can meet clients from this area in Boston. I know she's expecting a litter in July. Clover Hill Yorkies If you have any questions, you can PM me. Good luck

| I also bought my little girl with undocked tail. As everyone else has said, you have to pick the breeder first and discuss with them. I got Izzy (she is in my avatar and a parti Yorkie) from Greens Treasured Yorkies. (Treasured Yorkies - Home). Brenda is a member here. We discussed it and she left Izzy's tail for us. Love Brenda, she is a great breeder. Izzy was so well socialized and almost completely pee pad trained when we brought her home almost a year ago. Good luck in your search!

Senior Yorkie Talker | Tails are the best... a thread on her recently discussed the want for a change regards to docking as more research shows even the youngest of pups do feel pain from docking and that docking has been banned for years in several country's.... UK for one, can't remember the threat name? someone else might as it had video link and lots of info

| Abigail's tail is not docked either and it's so cute! I was told by my vet that keeping the tail is breed standard now in Europe, but if I wanted it done I should wait until I have her spayed. I decided to keep the tail. |

| They will do this but you will more than likely have to put your money up front on the pup, as if the breeder misses the window for docking the tail, and then you decide you would really rather have a ferret, then the breeder is stuck with a pup with an undocked tail....and believe me, as much as we may want undocked tails to be the norm, they are not as of yet, and those babies are VERY hard to place! |

| I know in the Silky world, it's become quite a debate, but there's quite a few who leave tails undocked. You can definitely find reputable breeders who will leave tails. It'll just take a bit more work and planning. Jackson has a full tail but he was from a BYB in a newspaper ad.
