| ucky word/name monitor So we have been trying to get my three year old Natasha to learn her new baby 'brother's name. Ma-th-ai-is. Say it again. Finally after pronouncing it Matt-Tai-is and being corrected too many times, she looks at me and states "no, Mommy. Matt-tai-is is an ucky name. No ucky name for the baby." Every time I say his name she will yell from the other room "Mommy! don't say that word! It's an ucky name!" She is trying to call him Tai for short, when I call him Matt. I think she's gonna win on this one though, cause everyone else in the house calls him Tai for short. And according to my German mother-in-law (how awsome to have a German dog for a son when I married a German man!) Tai is considered an acceptable nickname for Matthias. *sigh* So much for calling him Matt or Mattie. Although I still do. Guess my nickname for him will be a special mommy-son thing. Anyway, thought I would tell you about our in-house ucky name/word monitor.

| What a cute story!!! Your 3 year old sounds like a real cutie pie! And really smart too!!! I remember my granddaughter called me mama all the time when she was little. My daughter and I never knew if she was talking to her or me. Then we figured out that my granddaughter couldn't say grandma and so my daughter told her to call me Mimi - which she did immediately and still does to this day (9 years old). So, I guess it is common for little ones to have a hard time with names and want the name to be something else! Happy holidays with all your little ones!
