Donating YT 500 Club Member | Summer clothing? Being a new Yorkie mom, I'm still in the very early learning stages on proper care for my Jasper. My question is, since we have air conditioning running in our home during the summer months should he wear shirts and hoodies? I know they do not have an undercoat and since they are so tiny I don't want him to get sick or be cold. Thanks everyone for your patience with me as I continue to learn.

| Welcome!! My kiddos are rarely nekkid so they're always in something inside, lol. It really depends though - do you keep it really cold inside? I don't think A/C will really matter that much unless it's <50 degrees. But just keep your eye on him. If he's shivering or showing signs of being cold, then go ahead and put something on. Otherwise, I think he'll be fine. He's a cutie!!

| I totally agree if he seems cold of you feel like its a bit chilly put something on him otherwise it doesn't matter. Yumi is naked most of the time. I get cold easier than she does, if I get cold she gets dressed. |

| If your pup gets cold I would. Callie shakes sometimes and I will have to put something on her when shes in the AC. Normally unless shes playing out side or with my moms yorkie she has at least a tank top and then at night she ends up having to put a light hoodie on and she always sleeps in a fleece nighty sense I keep my room pretty cold.

| If Jasper is going for a long walk and it's not raining, then he can be 'naked' haha. But when it's chilly I put on a hoody, but for cooler days in the summer, if I notice him shivering, I will put on a tighter fitting tshirt, to keep in body heat. Jasper has alot of cute vests with funny saying on them and they are loose, and not really warm at all on him, so I keep that on him, if I want him to look uber cute |

| Mandie won't wear clothes unless she is so cold that she is shaking. So, summer clothing on her is out of the question in Alabama lol. My silly, tough, tomboy of a girl. I buy her clothes all the time for MY personal enjoyment...not hers lol I just got her a tank top from a member on the forum. It is a little snug but it fits. She looked at me like I was bonkers when I put it on her. *sigh*

| My pom cora, and yorkie jasper, probably only really like getting 'dressed' because they assume they are getting out. Cora deff associates her jumpers and coats with going out, and is more than willing to jump in them ahahha. Jasper doesnt like his onsie tracksuit but think he likes his hoodie, deff stops the shivering. i mainly use the tracksuit for after baths, because it feels like a towel/bathrobe. and he is so overdramatic sometimes, and goes to sleep straight after and won't move from under the blanket. lol |

| If you want to dress them it is a good idea to start early. That way when they really need to wear something they will still be happy. I am one of those strange people that dresses their dogs up all the time and they seem to like it. My Coton likes it so much she will dance around and jump on the couch as soon as she sees you holding something. And she has to get dressed before my Papillon or she gets MAD

| I think it depends on the dog too because even being in Alaska Joel hates clothes and rarely ever acts cold, unless he's in a new environment, then he is all the sudden colder lol. He can easily play or take a walk in the snow without shivering or caring. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Hello and welcome to YT. I would use your best judgment. Galen hates wearing clothes and I have to fight to put them on to go outside. ( it's cold). I have in his bed a couple of small blankets for him to snuggle in. Which he seems to like.

| Welcome to YT. Our Yorkie hate clothing on him. He likes to run in the raw. We too have central air. We tried to get him used to it when he was a puppy, but it didn't work. Last edited by lexi43; 04-14-2013 at 10:04 AM. |
