| Yorkie or Morkie?? Greetings! Attached are pictures of my sweet Skeeter. He's 1 year old and a sweetheart. Very Terrier! He's an adored part of the familly. My question is.... Is he Yorkie or Morkie? He was purchased from a reputable botique for a considerable bit of money as a Yorkie. However to my untrained eye he has all the appearances of a Morkie. In these pictures he is ungroomed, never has neen due to the winter season right now here in Michigan. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk, to me he looks all yorkie and he is cute little guy. I see you are in Troy, I am in Waterford and I am thinking you bought him at that fancy place in Birmingham if so they do charge and arm and a leg, after you spend some time on YT you will find out why most of us here do not support stores that sell dogs no matter how fancy they are. But that is water under the bridge for you now so don't worry about it as long as he is healthy. We have a meetup group in the area and are fixing to have a yorkie get together in early may, if your interested PM me and I will get you the info on the group.

| Thank you all so much for your input and advice. I've had many canine family members and never one until Skeeter from a pet store. In choosing Skeeter to become a part of our family I weighed many factors. Size, temperament and hypoallergenic to begin but first and foremost to me was Terrier. I wasn't sold on the idea of a Yorkshire until I read an article titled "Yorkshire. A toy breed but all Terrier". Then as I researcher further I fell in love with the Yorkie.... my wife was already a die-hard Yorkie fan. We have two disabled children ages 10 and 12 and Skeeter has brought a level of comfort and joy to them that can’t be defined by any monetary value. And a great joy to the two of us goes without saying Skeeter is a big boy at 11 pounds and luckily has the hair characteristics I sought in being hypo-allergenic. He is the sweetest dog I have ever known and loves to ride in the girls wheelchairs on their laps at any given chance... even for hours. So why did I go to a puppy boutique? To me at the time it was simple in that we had specific needs and that was it. In all but "look" he is everything and more. And no DBlaine he wasn't purchased in Birmingham, it was Southfield. I'm reluctant at this time to name the boutique publicly but I can say they are quite hostile. More may come of this later because their business practices are not ethical in the least bit. That point is moot though. Skeeter is a bad assed little Yorkie, or Morkie, adorable and kind. Stubborn when he wants to be and thinks he's the size of a Great Dane at others. I'll attaché some better pics later I am very pleased to have found this site… |

| I know of that store as well, I had some of my yorkie friends liking their page on face book, and I am like WHAT knock that off don't you dare give them more exposure. Anyway sadly most places are very nice during the purchasing process but turn their back on you later on. To me even though others have said morkie I still think all yorkie. Post some other pics when you have him groomed, it will be easier to tell then, that is so sweet that he is good with your children and it worked out well that he was not super small. You know there are DNA kits you can get that I believe will tell you if the dog is all yorkie, I have heard others on here talk about it and I don't think they are that expensive.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | What a heart warming story. I am so happy that you are happy with your boy. I suspect he might be mixed - but Wisdom Panel can give you some idea of that - if at this point it is important to you. If that store sold you a dog as a purebred welll then..... Maybe there are other routes you should go to get recompense. Lovely looking boy and great with kids--what a find!

| I would say morkie, looks just like teddy except coloring, teddy is 3/4 yorkie and 1/4 maltese. Maltese are very similar, both hypoallergenic, with floor length show coats. |
