| Mommy Melt Down Part One Rubin had a routine dental Fri. He did great. I had a melt down. It is so easy to reassure and encourage fellow YTers, but, when it is one of my Yorkies, I feel fear, that no logic can sooth. This story started a month ago. I got a cute post card from our Vet's office. Sitting at desk a cartoon elephant wearing large round glasses and holding a pencil wrote; Just a Reminder, Prince Rubin of Bartow it is time for your dental. Please call our office to make an appointment for your lab work soon ! Two weeks later phone rings. Labs are back, everything is great. Have Rubin here at 7:30 on March 22nd. I blurt but, hey that is my birthday. Do I want to do it tomorrow ? Oh No, the 22nd is fine, see you then. Ok you will call the day before, to remind me no food and water after 9 pm. I hang up my phone and write it on the calander. Like I would forget my birthday or Rubin's appointment.

| Happy belated birthday! (My sister's birthday was yesterday, also) How are you and Rubin doing now? Ian' s due for his dental, and I am extremely nervous. He's due in April.

| I was just thinking the same thing today! When it's one of mine... common sense and normal thought processes just fly on out the window! (Happy Belated Birthday!)

| Aww Happy Birthday! I am agreeing though, I was a mess with Joeys neuter, so I can understand how to be supportive but nothing will soothe me until I know for sure everything is ok with my boy!

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Happy birthday. I am nutty when he is getting his shots. Second Lepto Monday. I can not imagine how I am going to be when neutering happens

| Happy Birthday again - what a birthday you had! whew! Mandie is having her two top baby canines pulled and a dental on April 11th. Trust me - I know what you mean. In my head, I know the process and the vet does this often and is a pro. I know what I would tell others and I tell myself that. But, umm..yeah - when it's your own baby, you still wig out. That's why we all have each other - for support during our wigging out moments

| Part Two Mommy Melt down March 22nd 6:30 am I dress in the dark so I don't wake DH. I stumble into the bathroom. Wow, I look a fright with purple lack of sleep smudges under my puffy eyes. I brush my teeth and Rubin stretches out with his butt in the air, then prances to the kitchen. I say, "Ah Ruby no breakfast for us sweetie." He gives a tentative sniff at the pantry door. I shake my head. "We are going Bye, Bye " He rushes into the living room and does a dance in front of the door. I put the zebra print carry purse o the floor and unzip it. Rubin jumps in, his little nubbin tail twitching like a windshield wiper on high speed. I feel almost sick, he is so happy. I can't meet his eyes, this is not a fun Senior visit trip. We are going to the Vet. They are going to knock him out and scrape his teeth. Gosh I hate this ! I slide my feet into my nasty rubber clogs and call him into my lap. I brush him and do his top knot. He sits patiently. All this is what we do before visits but, this morning we skip the teeth brushing. He goes out to potty, then back in the zebra purse. Out to the car. He settles into the comfy car seat and smiles ( yes he really smiles, pulls his lips back and shows his teeth). It is still dark when we pull into McDonalds drive thru. Rubin is excited he smells all the wonderful greasy stuff frying. I order a large hot tea. He whines, what is going on Mama ? no bunless burger or chicken nuggets ? Rubin gives a reminder bark to let me know he is in the back seat. I tell him sorry as both our stomachs growl in hunger. Rubin does his dramatic 'what about me sigh' and gives me the stink eye. 7:15 am When we pull into the empty Animal Hospital parking lot Rubin is shocked. He knows where we are and whines. I unhook his car seat and he jumps up front and into my lap. I stroke him absently and say a prayer, 'Lord please let this dental be ok and keep my baby safe." Rubin gives me several licks on the chin , he knows something is worrying me. I mumble we are too early and take a sip of tea I scald my tongue. I spit and spray hot tea on me and Rubin. I cough and tears leak out of my eyes. Rubin whines and picks up my over the top vibes. I hug him too tight and swab at the wet with my soggy shirt tail. Lights bounce off the mirror as two more vehicles pull into the parking lot.

| Teresa, you really do tell a wonderful story! If you haven't tried to get something published, you should. I have a children's story I want to put to paper but just haven't taken the time. You should take the time!! Sending prayers for your pup's dental and for your nerves. Also happy birthday, you really need to celebrate when the pup comes home!!

| Mommy Melt down Part 3 March 22, 7:25 am Rubin and I see headlights bounce off the mirror. The driver of a new Lexus takes the first parking place, the one closest to the door. And Ford Escape pulls parks next to me. Rubin and I watch as the Lexus door opens and a nice looking, thirty something, dressed in a suit, man tugs on something in the back seat. A very, very, young Doberman with taped ears almost takes a nose dive onto the parking lot. The man glances at his watch and hooks a flexi leash to the pup's chain collar. I frown. He has a phone pressed to his ear and his back to the pup when she runs full speed to a very brownish patch of weedy grass. "Oh Dear Lord," I say to Rubin, "he is letting that beautiful little girl sniff and walk where a thousand sick dogs have puked, pooped...." We hate him. Rubin gives a half hearted woff at the man. The puppy poops and of course the Bad Daddy doesn't pick it up. He looks at his watch again. I hug Rubin too tight and he presses his nose into my neck. The woman in the SUV Looks at us and waved a hand at the man. She couldn't make eye contact because of my tinted windows. I think she felt friendly because my back window says : Yorkies R Therapy. "She might be a nurse, we like her." I said to Rubin. He looked her over and gave a brief tail twitch. She was dressed in butterfly scrubs, and had a Yorkie on her lap. Her little Yorkie was barking like a possessed squeaky toy. Rubin looked at me to see if I was going to correct the dog , when I didn't he tipped his head to study my face. A side door opened and the overnight staff headed for the back parking lot. The Bad Daddy man yelled out to them, "Hey, when you guys open up ?" One fellow called back, " Seven thirty." Just then the front office lights came on. The nurse lady got out of her SUV, carrying a to go cup of too hot McDonalds something in one hand and Miss Yappy Butt under the other arm. The Bad Daddy almost drags the puppy up the ramp and rushes through the front door. I looked at Rubin gave him a kiss and said, "Ruby get in your bag" and he did. I zipped it up. Time to go.
