| Plants: Want to Zen Green thumb'rs: In N. TX, we've been intermittently teased by warm days. So....I've developed super early SPRING FEVER (poor mum in upstate NY just finished shoveling 6" new snow yesterday ). I want to add some super large plants that aren't too picky (my yorkie Liberty is the only royalty for this house). I remember that my all-time favorite for size and easy care, the split leaf philodendron, is poisonous to pets. So, guess that's out. Liberty never bothers any of small plants that we have now but we should play it safe; dropped leaves may be the only temptation for him. Good behavior has earned him free reign of the home when we are gone so is not supervised 24/7. The ponytail palm is fairly safe - but grows too slowly- very large plants can run $$$. Any suggestions on how to safely create a large jungle look for some patio doors? |

| I have a black thumb. Seriously...I kill cacti. It's nuts lol It's been a crazy weather season here for sure. The tulip trees all over my area are in full bloom. Beautiful..just strange to see. We are actually getting into the low 30s for the next 3 nights but it was 78 yesterday. Anyway, I can't garden but I adore those that do because I love being able to look!

Crazy weather, right? It's been in the 70's some days here too. Cokd front came in last night, along with a tornado watch. If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes. | |

| I had (had being the key here) a HUGE alovera. I made my DH move it in for the winter and out for the warmer weather. I was a mobile plant until last summer. I let my DH plant it in the front yard. The first cold snap made it unhappy and I am pretty sure that it is dead. It started about the size of a coffee cup and was 10yrs old. The only other plant that I have is an ivy that Mina cannt reach and a bagonia that lives in my bedroom. |

| The easiest thing to grow is the bamboo you can put it anywhere even a dark bathroom. They say it doesnt do well in sunny rooms but my bedroom gets aalot of sun because it has skylights and it does well in there everything does

| Bamboo Bamboo is a great idea. It can grow very large and would be safe for fur-baby. May have to rearrange some to accomodate the low light. Have a couple of large, glazed pots around here that it would look great in. Thanks for the input! |

| The following plants are non-toxic to both cats and dogs: 1. Blue Echeveria 2. Bamboo 3. Areca or Golden Palm 4. Burro's Tail or Lamb's Tail 5. Christmas Cactus 6. Cliff Brake or Button Fern 7. Hens and Chickens 8. Pearl Plant 9. Pony Tail Palm 10. Spice Orchid I found this list online. I built on sunroom last summer. I'm interested in starting some plants from seed in there this spring, and would also like some plants in there year round. My problem is the room isn't heated, and as it has 3 exposed exterior walls, it gets very cold in there in winter. I'm wondering which of the 10 plants listed above could best handle cold interior temps.
