| Our 13 y/o Yorkie Ginger On Friday the Vet she has beginning stages of kidney disease her BUN and CREATINE were elevated, she also had the weirdest stool it looked like a blob of jelly but nothing showed up in tests run??? I have never seen this before- so odd They are having me give her chicken and rice to get her eating again as she wasn't eating well for a few weeks. And they think she might have a bacterial infection so she's on Amoxicillan and a probiotic for inbetween meds to help her stomach. I am so worried about her he is like a child to me and we have her 3 daughters Rose tess and Stella I can't imagine losing her :-( I read someone here gave there dog milk thistle I am going to ask my vet about that to help cleanse liver. Also I need to find a food with low protien, I use Blue foods now and they make a low protien one but she doens't like it at all. |

| I think Blue Buffalo make's a low protein food. Did your vet recommend a RX diet? I know they have prescription diets for kidney problems. I hope you can find a good diet for her. Hopefully you can get her eating again with the chicken and rice diet and then switch her to a low protein diet. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My senior rescue Nikki had kidney failure, he was estimated to be about 19 years old. The vet put him on KD diet and he did very well on it for over a year. California Natural has a lower protein food you can look in to. Good luck.

| Often times a dog won't eat because the kidney disease makes them nauseous. Mirtazapine is a great medication to help stimulate their appetite. You must do whatever you can to keep your girl eating. If she stops eating, she will go downhill fast. I cooked for my little one, when she refused to eat the canned prescription food. There is a k-9 kidney group forum that might help as you navigate through these trying days. Best wishes! K9KidneyDiet : K9KidneyDiet
