| Paw licking! and grooming Hi there! So I adopted a Yorkie off a friend of a friend who did not want this little girl. At first I was having issues with potty training (now fixed) and her taiil would never wag,, always went in hiding (also fixed) Now I have come across a weird, and I mean weird thiing about her, she licks her paws like crazy to the point I think she peed on the couch there's such a huge wet spot. I have no clue how to stop this. and she likes underwear..... As for grooming, I don't know how, but wont take her in anywhere when I can learn to at home, that and cutting her nails which I am nervous to do because they are so dark. Any Ideas? |

| She's beautiful. If you want to groom her yourself, just get some blunt tip scissors for the face and paws and a pair of good clippers. Then, just search some youtube videos and/or "wing it"...as you do more and more, you'll get what you like. For the nails, I'm with you..I'm too afraid to do black nails. I just swing Mandie by my vet's or petsmart to get hers done on occassion. The licking - it could be itching or it could be a nervous behavior. I would check that with the vet first (in case it's itching). If it isn't a medical problem, then it is probably a nervous behavior and you can try distracting her. If she starts licking, give her a toy or something to chew on instead, perhaps.

| I second the vet idea re: her licking...could be nerves, could he allergies a whole range of things. I believe if you go to the grooming threads on yorkie talk you will find yorkie owners that have posted videos showing both grooming and nail clipping! You sure are lucky...she is a dolly!
