| What Muffin ruined now........ I am geting so mad at this dog lol. He has already chewed the paint off a small area of wall, chewed the end of my cupboard, keeps tearing apart his peed on pads( so I vaccuum his area 3 times a day!), eats his fleece bed, and has now started making a hole in my carpet by a door! I am in an apartment and now freaking out, hoping they dont see it when we move! Its a big hole and he keeps scratching at it and making it bigger! I have carpet shavings all over! I dont know what to do with him anymore! He always has clean pads, water and food, plenty of toys. What does he want from me!!! With a baby and another on the way, I dont know if I can handle his behaviour! Now he is barking at me lol. No where to put him in this place that he wont tear up anything. Any ideas?

| He needs confinement Do you have a crate for him or an xpen? Poor guy is doing his thing, but he needs to work on toys and acceptable chew things, not your apartment carpet and fixtures! He will not be able to get to bad things if you confine him when you cannot watch him, and take him out when you can supervise him. There are a ton of postings on crate training. Also, I suggest getting some Bitter Apple spray and wet down whatever you don't want him to chew. Make sure you have plenty of chew toys available, and if you catch him chewing something he is not supposed to, tell him firmly NO, (but no yelling), make sure you replace it with a toy, and tell him Good Boy and praise him. Then as soon as you can, spray the thing he shouldn't chew with the Bitter. With patience and repetition, you will redirect the bad behavior and replace it with a wonderfully well behaved pup! Good luck!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali too has chewed a hole in the carpet ansd tries to get to it anytime she can, holes in the wall etc. I have tried everything to no avail. I just need to supervise her VERY closely and wait for her to grow up. You are not alone!!

| MUffinsMom -- Just pull your hair out and scream!!! How old is our dog. Can we make any excuses for him because he's a puppy. My pup is pretty good right now as far as damage goes. But he's only 14 weeks old with a big future ---a lot of time left to do bad things. I do know how frustrated you are. Not one of the little dogs I've had in the past 10 years, but further back I had a black lab that did $75 worth of damage a day. He was the monster from hell, but still a very loveable dog. So after about four years of his ruining our house and our yard - and even pulling pranks on the golf course and at the country club, we just had to get rid of him. I still remember him riding off down the street in a sport's car convertible (with a hat on). A young man bought him and was going to take him hunting. And Tar, really was a dog that would easily go with anyone. Reports on him were that he was having the time of his life. So that worked out well for everyone. Back to your little Muffin. It's good to have YT - so you can vent once in a while. Does your dog do most of his damage when you are gone, and he's left home alone. That was when Tar did 80% of his damage. And he knew better too, because he hid from us when we got back. Maybe when you're gone --you need to put a playpen upside down on him --a big one, of course. Or one of those gated areas with a cover. He obviously cannot be trusted to be loose. It's his own fault. Seems that every time our dogs are being bad, we are told that they need more attention, more toys, more of this, or more of that. It certainly isn't their fault that they are being bad; it's our fault because we are not giving them something they need. But honestly, the truth is that many of our little dogs are already spoiled to death and already have more attention and toys than 99% of the dogs in the world. I'm sorry, but sometimes I think we should admit that our little guys are just being naughty little brats. I think, in this case, what we need to do is find a way to stop their behavior and still be nice to them --because we love them so. I can't think of anything other for you to do than confine your dog when you are gone. He's being very bad and you have to stop it. You need to try and create some sort of area where there is nothing he can damage, and where he can still be comfortable. Good luck! I know this isn't always easy. I always find it much easier to solve other people's dog problems than my own. Don't you? Good luck - I think time will help you cool off - if he doesn't do anything bad in the meantime. I hope someone comes up with some "wonderful easy thing you can do to solve your problems with little Muffin." Keep in touch - you can always scream at us!!! Carol Jean |

| My dogs went through a real destructive periold where they chewed up all my area rugs in the house. It was my fault though I should have kept them penned when I wasnt attending to them and made sure they always had things to chew on. Since they have gotten through that period though they have been fine. Now they only chew up paper products.

| Can you cut a piece of plywood to place under him and fit in the area that he is in??? This way, he couldn't get to the floor or carpet --at least in that area. Again - good luck! Carol Jean |
