| Question about registration... I just got papers in the mail today to register my Yorkie pup. The papers are for the American Kennel Club and the Continental Kennel Club. On the AKC papers there is an area that says - Litter Owner(s): Please completely darken the box below to request Limited Registration. The box is not darkened, but has the numbers 865 in it. Does this mean anything? ---------- Also - would you advise registering a dog - for no good reason. He is a pet - will be neutered in a few months and will not be shown. But the AKC registration is only $17 - not much. And, looking at it, part of it is a transfer fee...should I register for this reason? ----- I did register my Bichon (a Limited Registration) -- got the papers, put them in a drawer, and have never looked at them since. Thanks a lot!!!! Carol Jean |

| Its really up to you the only advantage is you get your dogs ancestory. I just put mine in a drawer and never use it so I dont see why its really necessary to have.

| I have no intention of breeding, so the only thing I register is the microchip. And I've done that at several registeries just in case...

| Thanks for your replies. The papers I got have his sire and dam's registered names and numbers (probably won't ever even need this information). And, they have the breeder's name and address also. Again - does anyone know what the "865" in the Limited Registery box means? Carol Jean |

| Is it a color registry? They used a three-digit number on my AKC registry to indicate Trixie's colors. Not sure about this though...

| Not a color registry - there is another area on the form for that. It say 018 - black and tan. I was just curious. I always figure that numbers must mean something. Carol Jean |

| You can get full registration if the box is not COMPLETELY darkened. The numbers are only reference numbers the AKC uses.

| COMPLETELY Darkened?? I am also curious about this...on mine there is no numbers, but there are diagonal lines across it, it is not completely darkened in the sense of SOLID BLACK...I have recently noticed this and have been fuming. The breeder never mentioned Limited Registration and although I do not currently plan to stud Bentley, I do have friends w/ yorkies and who knows later I might want to do it 1 time for a pup...

| Papers I have a cocker with a champion sire and dam, whose papers I never changed over into my name from the breeders.. what was the point, I spayed her. I didn't plan on showing her, she wasn't going to do agility, or obedience (heck I can't even housebreak her and she's seven! lol) Really there isn't much point in sending them in unless you plan to breed him, show him, or you just want the pedigree, which you could actually research online at the AKC website by using the sire and dam's registration numbers for $10 each for a 5 generation pedigree on each if you really wanted to know. Or you could just ask the breeder for one...she should have a copy of the pedigree if she is a good breeder.
