Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali has had it since I got her at 9 weeks she is now 6 months and still has a little cough left. my pom also caught it fom her and she still has it. Both have been on antibiotics several times. I just took them back to the vet to chek their lungs and she said they were clear and that sometimes it just takes a long time for the cough to go away completely. I have read other threas where it has taken monbths as well and others clear up ina week or two. Good luck and just watch for other signs of a worsening infection such as lethargy and not eating.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | over it finally Dayzee came into our home 4 weeks ago (age 4 mos) w/kennel cough. She went to the vet about 30 hours after arriving (and exposing my 15 mo havanese & 9 yo bichon). She was put on cough medicine and amoxycillion. On day 6 of this regiment, she was lethargic and not eating. Rushed her back to the vet and he took a throat culturee. In 24 hours the results were back, she actually had 4 infections--and the medications were changed to include all the viruses/infections titled kennel cough. Long story short: it took another 10 days and no more coughing, no more fever, good as new. Make sure the vet does cultures asap, because you want your baby well as quick as possible. |
