| Need advice.... As I had posted earlier, I picked up a stray. (San-Dee) I put an ad in the paper and flyers out by my mom's street and he has not been claimed. A friend of mine said that she had seen him around the highway the week before. So I am assuming that someone dropped him off. He went to the vet yesterday for his check up and shots. He does have a level 2 heart murmur and needs to be checked every 6 months. I will keep him because I refuse to bring an animal to the pound to only be put down. Which means I will not be getting a female Yorkie any time soon, but I can handle that. I have scheduled San-Dee to be neutered on January 16th and to have some cysts removed, because he keeps scratching them until they bleed. My question: Am I wrong to have him neutered since there is a chance that he was not dropped off and is just lost. I am asking this because one of my friends said that I am cruel to do this to San-Dee when he is not actually my dog. I was wondering if more people share the same feelings and maybe I am wrong. Any and all opinions will greatly be appreciated. |

| I think you are in the right to go ahead and get him neutered. He is in your care now and will continue to be unless he is claimed. It has been two weeks and my guess is no one is going to claim him.

| I do have to wonder why your friend didn't get him off the highway when she saw him. Thank God he didn't get hurt. Poor baby, your a Yorkie Angel for saving him. I would go and take care of him as if he was yours, because it sounds like he is. You put up signs, did your best to find his family. To be on the safe side you took him to the vet, and you are giving him the very best of care. Who ever lost him should be very thankful his in such good hands. If they really wanted him back they would be searching for him. Not that I would let my babies out without me, but to be on the safe side they all have a chip. San Dee is not chipped, and no one is looking for him. So you now have a furbaby to love, and I'm sure he loves you too. I don't think your wrong in any way, he's your baby, and your doing what is best for him. Enjoy.

| You said you posted found ads and I assume that you have never seen any lost ads. So, someone isn't trying to find him too hard IMO. Regardless of whether you keep him or not, he still needs to be nuetered. I think you are doing the correct thing and thankgoodness he found you!!! I am certain you saved his life. Enjoy him and don't listen to any crap about keeping him or nuetering. You are his Mom now!!!!!!!!!

| You are not wrong in getting him neutered because he is now, IMO, YOUR DOG! You took him in and tried every way possible to find his owner. They apparently do not want him back so you get to keep him. January 16th is a month away. If no one claims him by then, then yo should go for it. You saved him, and he is YOURS! Neutering him is the responsible, caring thing to do! |

| First, you are a life saver for that little guy. Now, you have to be one again and have him neutered. Testicular cancer kills just the same as a car on the highway. Bless you for caring.. |

Donating Member | I just want to shake your hand and tell you what a good person you are for taking him in...I think since he's in YOUR care then you are perfectly within your rights to make any decisions you feel are in his best interest - obviously someone else didn't feel that way ...but now he has YOU ...way to go !! |
