| Toughen Laws on Dog Fights I have always said we have all kinds of laws on the books, no need to create MORE laws or regulations to interfere with innocent people conducting business....we need to put teeth into the laws that already exist and make people actually accountable for their behavior. Here is such a bill...I am posting this here....maybe those that agree with the premise of this bill will support it if interested....There is also a provision for our hero military war dogs....although I really can not see the government adding vet care to war dogs , into any upcoming budget.....unless it can come from the $$$$ allotted to the Veterans Affairs budget.... "Best Friends Animal Society is heartened by the recent actions of the U.S. Senate to pass two important pieces of animal legislation. Both of these measures now go to the House of Representatives, and Best Friends is calling on you to take action. The Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act (US S 1947/ H.R. 2492) would make it a federal offense to attend an organized animal fight and increases the penalties for bringing a minor to a fight. Through our work with the Vick dogs, Best Friends has learned firsthand how much damage can be done to pets through animal fighting. People who watch these cruel exhibitions and encourage children to attend should be severely penalized. The Senate also passed an amendment to the Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2013 Military Activities (S. 3254), allowing the Secretary of Defense to establish and maintain a system to provide for the veterinary care of retired military working dogs. Dogs who have served America in the military should be rewarded for protecting our service men and women, not discarded like unneeded equipment. After their tour of duty is over, these heroic dogs should be eligible for veterinary care." |

| I'm for anything that will help deter that animal cruelty and that will help with our canine heroes!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I believe anyone watching dog fights and most especially organizing and participating in them, should be flown to a deserted island, and all left there to make their way to whatever life they can find. Why should I pay for jail for this cruel folks? And military and police dogs should have free vet care for the rest of their retired lives. Hell folks buy insurance on these dogs! Dah gee

| While I agree the government should be responsible for their retired dogs for the rest of the animal's life I really think the states should regulate what goes on within their jurisdiction. Our federal government is already borrowing billions yearly to pay for programs that they are already mismanaging. |
