| Snow shoes for dogs?! Hello and happy Monday! Living in an area where I know we'll get snow at some point, makes me wondering about salt. Has anyone had issues with their dog's paws and the snow melting salt stuff they use on the streets? I was just thinking about it and wondering if using the dog booties/snow boots would be helpful - has anyone tried a brand they love? Let me know what you think would be best for our 4 month old yorkiepoo. Thanks so much!! |

| I definitely would put something on the paws. You could try little boots and there is also some sort of gel/cream you can rub on the paws (several people do that). I can't remember the name of the stuff you rub on the paws..someone will post it probably. I'll go see if I can find it on google... EDIT: Found this..it's a wax. I'm sure there are other brands, too. http://www.thedogoutdoors.com/musher...ction-wax.html

| Also, there is a member here (alldogboots/Karen) that has this website. A lot of us get our doggie footwear from her (I've gotten the rubber rain booties). Dog Boots | Dog Shoes & Dog Booties

| You can also ask Alaskayorkie. He (obviously) lives in AK and his yorkies wear these thin booties that don't hinder their walking in the snow and keep the salt off their paws. Last I remember they were very inexpensive too.

| When Joel was a baby he walked on salt and was screaming, I started to panic and tossed him in a pile of snow, lol and he was better. So now I put the fleece booties on when he walks on salt and it works |

♥ Catherine My Love ♥ Donating Member | Thanks for this thread. I have just transitioned from indoor potty (pads) to outside and we are going to be getting snow soon. Between snow and rain, I need booties to keep Catherine's feet warm and clean.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Yeah, for salt on the roads I'd talk to Karen. The ones I use are fleece, which protect against the cold but not as well against salt. They don't use salt on the roads here, and I pick them up when I run into salt someone spread on the sidewalk or in front of a business.
