| Harness or collar? We have new morkie named Amy and are trying both a harness and a collar but not at the same time. Which do you think is better to use? She is 3.1 pounds now and is expected to be 6 or 7 pounds when fully grown. |

| Mine wears his collar when he goes for professional pictures only so you see his custom Guinness tag other then that I would never risk Trachea damage with a collar. |

| Hi and welcome to YT. It is recommended that you use a harness with a Yorkie/Morkie. They have delicate throats and their trachea's can be damaged by pulling on or being pulled while wearing a collar. I use a collar for Buster's ID tags only and use a harness to walk him with.

| Wow, what you have said makes perfect sense. I never thought of that at all. When I take her for a walk I will be sure to use a harness. I have a collar and will use it to take her to the groomers when she is old enough to go. I was afraid the harness was maybe constricting her too much but it is worth it if it helps. Finding a harness to fit was a challenge but got one at the True Value store here in town. Last place I would have looked. Went to Petsmart but they were all to big. Also ordered one from Doggie Design that fits her also. She does walk much better in the harness then the collar. Thank you so much for your quick replies. |

| P-Nut wears a harness only (he just got his first Buddy Belt!); his tags are on his harness. I'm too worried he'd do something weird with a collar...and I wouldn't risk walking him with leash/collar.... |

| Never hook a leash to a collar on a small dog or you could be setting them up for collapsing trachea and that is not curable. A collar is fine to use for a tag and I recommend doing that but never hook a leash to it. When using a leash use a harness.
