| Do you groom your own babies? Hi, we're new here! I just love being Mochi's mom . He's the love of my life and is the most affectionate little boy. He's a puppy yet he's so well behaved and I think he is an old soul because he seems so disciplined. hahaha My Mochi is 8 months old and loves chicken, chicken, and more chicken. I buy the plain rotisserie chicken from the market. I mix the chicken with rice or pure pumpkin puree. He loves veggies, green beans and peas, fresh crisp cucumbers, chopped spinach and carrots. He has a very good appetite. I also keep a small bowl of Bill Jac small breed puppy food in his bowl and he nibbles from it when he wants. He drinks distilled water regularly. We purchased a advanced superfood supplement to support his health and sprinkle it onto his food. Mochi loves car rides......I keep him in a seat belted wired crate with a pillow and chew toy and bunches of his toys. I feel its safer in case of an accident. He also loves going camping in our camper and loves the outdoors. He is bathe every 3rd day with Pet Head and loves his bathes!! I have a mobile groomer come to the house and he loved her and knows he's a pretty boy when she's done. I just couldn't stand having to leave him at a groomers alone, that's why I opted for the mobile groomer to come to us. He's due the first week of November again! My question is, how many of you groom your own babies? Mochi is well behaved when I clean his eyes, ears, trim his facial and ear hairs.....he loves his bathes and sits well when I blow dry him. If you all groom your babies, what type of grooming tools do you use? What is your grooming routines? Thank you! |

| I groom my two myself. I use some inexpensive trimmers (I plan on upgrading soon) and scissors to groom them. I usually let their hair grow out during the winter and shave them pretty short during the summer. Just a week ago, I chose to shave my female because she had a couple of mats that I didn't want to have to rip out. I figure she has a fresh cut and hopefully I can keep on top of brushing her. She has a cottony coat, so she has to be brush daily. Grooming really is pretty simple... I sit on the ground with them after a bath in front of a large mirrored armoire. I blow dry them in my lap and then when they need a trim, they I do it the same way. They don't try to move and know that they need permission to leave my lap. I would definitely try grooming Mochi yourself if you can. It takes a little practice, but it will save you a ton of money!

| I am willing to pay whatever it takes for somebody else to groom mine AND still throw in a big tip!! He LOVES to shower daily but hair dryers are evil machines he must kill to protect him and mommy from.... and as far as staying still HA!!! Even if he is sitting or laying his tails still wags and his ears shake. |

| I do groom my own Yorkies. When I get a foster that is extremely matted, or afraid of being groomed, I get them professionally done the first time. I ease them into the daily grooming routine. I do use good Madan brushes and combs. My scissors are Fiskers. The clippers I use has many attachments and are professional dog grooming clipper set, purchased in 1998 at a dog show.

| I groom Troy myself. It's been nearly 2 years since his last professional groom. I use an Oster Kit I bought from Walmart for like $35. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done. I've used the last professional groom as a guide and try not to let Troy get too scruffy. I'm attempting to let him grow out because I like his legs a little fluffy and as much as I've protested the idea, thinking about growing him a topknot. I prefer grooming myself, because the last few groomers I had didn't like him because he was small and squirmy.

| I groom my three dogs- the wheaten terrier would have cost me thousands over the last 12 years, so I've had lots of practice! I took Ziva to a groomer three times but each time the kids said I could do as well, so I guess I will keep doing it myself- Abby doesn't take much but Ziva is a furry little thing! |

| Thank you for all the responses. I think I shall look into investing in a groomer's shaver/shearer. I'm not one who likes the close shaved puppy, I prefer keeping him long and like a teddy bear. I'll keep his next appointment and watch her more intensely this time and take notes~ At least he'll look good for the holidays and I'll attempt to groom him after the New Year.....lol Thanks~ |

| Mine go the Groomers every week for their bath and brush out, nails if needed and paw pad trims when needed, sanitary area as well when needed. I love, love, love my groomers. I have been going to them for 10 years. I also brush and clean eyes every day.

| My little Girls name is Mochi too! Welcome to YT! As far as grooming goes, Mochi's hair grows verrrryyyy slow! and shes still a baby (7months on 11/7) so ive only had her professionaly groomed once. I HATED it! they SHAVED her face, including her topnot with i told them at least 3 times NOT to cut! Ive decided as of now ill do the large majority of her grooming, maybe getting her professionally groom once every year or two years. Its just really expensive, plus no one will give her as much TLC as i will I bathe her 2 times a week (Saturday and Tuesday usually), and before we go to the Vet. Trim her hair as needed (not often). her nails i do get trimmed professionally though (one day i might start doing it, it just scares the hell out of me). and brush her every day or every other day.

| I groom Tatiana myself, too. I like to use the Wahl Peanut clipper, razor combs, and round-tipped scissors. As far as her haircut, I give her a touch-up on bath day (right before her bath). She gets bathed once a week, so she gets a touch up once a week. On a daily basis, I brush her out, clean her face and eyes, and her bottom. |

| All of our are groomed by me,except one poodle that belongs to my daughter and I have taught her how. Mina (yorkie) is by far the easiest to groom, poodles take forever. I use tiny scissors (they are actually for embroidery) for between pads and on face. Larger regular hair cutting scissors for the body to even it out after I use shears. My shears are made by Wahl. I use a #4 on her body and legs. If I want her neck shorter I use #3. I thought that she would be afraid of the shears, because my poodles are,but she doesnt care. "Just make me pretty mommie". |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I groom my 3 myself. I have Cali and Roxie professionally groomed a couple times a year for a good clean up. I just learned as I went along. I use good products, like Madan and Chris christensen brushes and combs.

Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | Yes Iwould scissorcut Paris and sometimes it wasn't perfect but he was a cutie. The one time I took him to a groomer he was scared for hours after he got home. So I just did it myself. |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Mochi sounds like a very good boy, and obviously a joy. I do all of my boys' grooming. They have never been to a professional. Since they are in full coat, I only have to trim their ears and feet with a Wahl Peanut or a mustache trimmer, and do a sanitary trim. I use scissors to take off split ends on the rest of their coats. We loves brushes and combs of all types.
