| comfortis with liver shunt We are having a horrible flea season here in western Pa. Frontline Plus isnt effective for longer than 2weeks. Does anyone know if it would be safe to give my liver shunt girl Comfortis? I have used it with my lab with fantastic results and wondered if anyone else has tried it. Some of the side effects look pretty scary as they mirror her symptoms from when the shunt was diagnosed. I haven't discussed it with my vet yet but have a call in to him and hope to hear back today. Thanks for any info! |

| Personally, I wouldn't use any poison on a dog with a compromised liver. Look into using chemical free options, especially if fleas/ticks aren't a huge problem. There are many essential oils and other options that are far safer. As a short term solution, bathe her with Original Dawn, let the suds sit on her for a bit and really shampoo her good, Dawn will cause most of the fleas to drown.

| Thank you both for your replies. Unfortunately as I said, the flea season is horrible. I have yet to hear back from my vet regarding giving her the Comfortis. I have not given the pill to her, I am only looking into options for flea control. thanks again. |

| My vet recommends Revolution for Tink (my LS dog). I like it bc it does Heartworm and fleas and it one chemical, as oppossed to most others that are a combo.
