| Found yorkie in port huron michigan....help A friend of mine had a male yorkie around 6 lbs wander in to his shop the other day. He took it in and has put up signs but no one has claimed it. The dog looks SERIOUSLY neglected. He said it smelled awfull and had fleas. The only thing it had on it was an old flea collar. We live in Ohio and my wife is already dropping hints that she wants to take it in if our friend cant find the owner. I have a few reservations as our own little guy is only 3.5 lbs and doesnt really like other dogs. The way this dog looks in the pics I m kinda hoping the owners don't come forward as you can tell the poor guy has not been taken care of. Will post a pic and see if anyone here recognizes him. Worse case we will end up taking this one in and getting healthy and then try to find a home for him.... |

| Here is a pic of the poor thing. As soon as I hit enter, we got a text from our friend saying the owner was there to pick up the dog.... |

| I would contact your local shelters, post him on Craigslist and tell your friends to really try finding his owners. Who knows, he could have been lost for a long time and just look neglected because he has been homeless.

On YT some one related a story of a stolen dog who was found a year after he went missing. Sorry, I can't remember who posted that thread.

Yorkies get messy, certainly, but on my girls worst days, they never looked so pathetic. I hope the scare of losing him, was enough to make them realize he is so precious, and they took him home and gave him a good home cooked meal and a bath and lots of love!!!! Sheila

| Don't let how he looks now discourage you. My Brandi was a mess, probably worse than how your lost yorkie looks now. After vet and groomers visits and lots tender loving care, brandi was transformed from an ugly duckling to a beatiful swan. She is now a diva that is enjoying life in a loving environment. |

| I can see a long coated dog looking pretty scruffy in a short amount of time, especially out on the streets in inclement weather, puddles, dirt, mud, etc. and weeds like 'beggar's lice' etc. But then, I puppy sit for a show coated Shih Tzu and it takes her no time at all in the leaves to look neglected. Plus, there's the way my two Yorkies look when they finish 'plowing' after being freshly bathed and primped...the first few times... I am so glad your family was able to find the owner.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've heard that you should never use a flea collar on a Yorkie, I guess it's too late for you to relay this message to the owner. I hope they start taking better care of him.

I'm glad owners located their little guy, and I am sure they were beyond happy to have him back. I can imagine the panic they must have felt...with him missing. Sheila

If Elvis had long hair and had been out inly a few hours he'd look like that. If there's no serious matts in the fur, even then geez a week and a cotton coated yorkie mattes right up abd I mean bad. The flea collar despite being unwise shows a thought of caring. Please have your friend get this dog scanned for a microchip. Contacting as suggested above animal control local humane societies and police stations should be a requirement it IS city law here, in fact not reporting a found dog can get you a fine ir worse possession of stolen property charges. Darn O posted after just looking at the pic abd not reading above it. I hope the owber takes vetter care of their guy after this.
