| How do you get them used to clothes? My Emy likes to bite and chew everything within mouth range. I bought a little t-shirt and a hawaiian shirt for her, but all she wants to do is bite the material on her front legs....how do I get her used to them? I've been putting them on for a couple minutes then taking them off, just to get her used to it, its kinda a fight getting her little legs through the holes...guess I'll keep trying.....any tips you guys have....my little biter won't let me brush her either, I am making headway on brushing her back softly, but as soon as I try to get her belly, she won't have it, and she's getting knotty under there....she doesn't have much hair under her, but it looks like little clusters of black hair with lighter hair growing in at the ends...guess she's changing colors or something.. if I ever figure out how to get a picture of her on here I'll post.... |

| The only advice I have is to develop a routine. I brush every morning and evening about the same time. I also feed at the same time. I would start with developing a routine for the clothes as well. Maybe start with leaving on for an hour? Then increase the time? The routine works for mine. Hopefully it will for you too. . As far as brushing underneath, have you tried holding her up and then brushing? Or having someone else hold her? Wish I could give you more suggestions. Good luck!

| Not sure about clothes cause my Geno gets himself naked anytime I put on a t-shirt or tank top...I still try putting them on him regardless. I would appreciate some tips as well. For the brushing, maybe just slowly introduce the brush or comb to her. Let her sniff it so she can see what it's all about. Then put it away. Later, bring it back out again. Let her sniff it, lick it, whatever, then slowly try brushing her on areas that are fairly easy to brush. Put it away and bring it back out again, let her look at it, then brush those easy areas and slowly start moving towards the tummy. We learned that if we slowly introduce brushes and combs to our boy, that he eventually won't resist it as much. He still today is fussy when we bring out the brush but he doesn't resist it as much as he used to. I also got this detangler called Cowboy Magic that you put a little bit on the knotted areas, and just slowly work it out with a comb. Once she gets accustomed to brushing, and you brush her frequently, you won't have to worry too much about matted areas. You should also see if your groomer offers puppy grooms which is basically getting them accustomed to getting groomed. They brush them and trim up the paws/ears/nails/face. It helped us since we trusted that our groomer knew what they were doing so eventually Geno stopped getting cranky during brushings.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Start as early as you can as a breeder that breeds a breed that has hair and not fur, I start putting little shirts on my puppies at 8 weeks, by the time they go home at 12 they go wearing a shirt, also brushing you must start brushing as soon as your baby gets home, I even include a brush in my puppy packs for the new parents, a routine is great, I usually brush everyone while I am watching tv and they lay by me. they all love it.. best of luck with your lil one.. hugs, |

AWWW she is just a little toddler, she will change. When Mina was that little I didnt use a brush,I used a wide toothed comb so I could pick each knot out gently. I brushed her a little each evening after play time. I would play with her until she was tired, sometimes it took an hour. Then I would hold her until she went to sleep and then I could groom her gently just a little. You dont have to get all of the tangles out in one evening. Mina still brings me toys every evening so we can play during the news. Her hair is short, except on her face, so I still use a comb more than a brush. Mina sleeps in nighties and wears a tshirt and hairbow or dress and hairbow everyday. I started out with things that didnt have sleeves, like sundresses and tanktops. Good luck | |

| With a young puppy you really want to keep training times short but make sure you do it at least 2 or 3 times a day. Grooming and clothing are both things that require training. If your little one is a young puppy I would just do some light grooming a couple of times a day. Start with putting on the little T-shirt. Play with her and try to distract her while it is on. When she goes back to chewing the shirt take it off and then do a little combing of the hair. |

| I got Charlie when he was 6 months and I put clothes on him right away he didnt seem to mind I would suggest make sure they fit well but not to snug if she chewing maybe its rubbing her the wrong way (literally) also make sure they arent to big so that her legs get hung up. that happened to Charlie and it freeked both of us out LOL He will let me put anything on him but now he will look at me like "mom.... really???" and Im not sure but I think he rolls his eyes at me

YT 500 Club Member | When ever I put clothes on zooey, she does one thing......SLEEP!! I don't get it. It never fails on any time of the day. So when she gets too hyper, put a dress on! Lol sleep time...put a dress on, in the stroller for a walk... put a dress on! And she won't potty with a dress or ribbon on her head. Talk about weird! I'm hoping shell get use to it too. She's only five months and four lbs. Been trying since day one!

| Roxie hates clothes. She will stand stone still and not move if I put a shirt or dress on her. Eventually she will just go lay in her bed...not wanting to play or eat or go out to potty. She goes nuts with joy when we take the clothes off her. We've stopped putting clothes on her...except for the Christmas card pictures.

| I agree with introducing the clothes as early as possible. Raley has worn clothes since he was 8 weeks old. He LOVES clothes. He wears clothes year round. Don't give up! Good luck!

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | For us it was starting very early and being persistant. When we first put a dress on KS, she nipped at it. She never got it off, but would nip at it. After a couple of days and from then on, she just ignores it. I think she even looks forward to dressing. When she sees me coming with a dress she hops up on her seat and sits like a good girl. So just keep at it and lots of praise. Good luck!

| TREATS!!!! Special ones that she gets only when you put clothes on her. Tiny bits of boiled chicken breast are great Or you can distract her with a chew toy. I have heard that with brushing, you can set her up on the counter, and put a small dab of peanut butter on the counter. While she's happily licking you can brush her some. Not too much, you don't want her to get porky
