| Flea / Hearworm Prevention Hello Fellow Yorkie Lovers~ I have read many threads in regards to to my question, but I am still unclear. Is Revolution the most popular item used right now? My Sasha is more of an inside dog, but she does go out with us and loves going hiking! I don't want her to pick up anything while we are out walking or anywhere for that matter. Currently I have her on Advantage Multi, which helps with allot of stuff, but from time to time I have found a flea or two on her. I hate to see her itch away. What are your thoughts? Thanks~ |

| It is a real problem. I have always used Interceptor for heartworms (not available anymore) as it was made in a dose for dogs 2-5lbs which I like. Didn't have a flea problem until this year. I am so afraid of those spot on treatments or even the pill type. They are pushing this Trifexis which is our old heartworm meds plus a flea/ tick killer. When I looked up the chemical for the fleas they were talking about how this is used to kill bugs in your yard!! I am supposed to give this to them eat!! I have used mostly natural flea spray in the house and in the yard and it appears to be working. (knock wood) Don't know what I will do about the heartworm med now that they are trying to force us into using the combo.

| I've used Interceptor for heartworm prevention and Frontline Plus for fleas/ticks for 12 years now and have never had a flea or tick. I like the products, and don't experience any problems with them. I don't trust revolution or natural products.

| I have used Revolution in the past with no adverse reactions....I like the broad spectrum of parasites it kills, as well as heartworms and fleas AND EAR MITES, which your dog can pick up from other dogs if you go to alot of public areas where lots of other dogs are. I like that it can be given to young puppies, and it is what I send all my babies out to new homes on. I have been fortunate and not had any side effects from it with any dogs I have used it on. I know there are some dogs that are sensitive to topicals. |

| I currently use Comfortis flea pills (which is the flea preventive in Trifexis) and Heartgard Plus. I have also had good luck with Vectra 3-D in the past. I use diatomaceous earth (food grade type) under the furniture, cushions, outside the the perimeter of the house, grass, etc...it works like a charm.

| For fleas/ticks, we use Advantix. I don't use it every month though. I try to use it sparingly and only when we need to. It typically ends up being every other month, or sometimes spread out longer in the winter. It just depends. Heartworm meds, I don't mess with. We were using Interceptor with good luck but now use Heartguard Plus.

| We use Sentinel for flea/heartworm for all 3 dogs (1 Yorkie and 2 Aussies) and then also during the warmer months we also give Comfortis (for fleas only) halfway through the month. Big flea issues in our area and this works great for us. Tatum is 6 lbs.

| Hey guys as far as heart worm, I'm reading K9 Advantix II kills fleas, ticks & MOSQUITOS . (it's for dogs 10 lbs and under). Would I still need to use heartwrom medication? I just purchased Advantix and am about to use it on him for the first time I was using Frontline for a while, but I noticed fleas on my dog pretty often. I called frontline and did some reasearch. Found out that Forntline can take up to a day to kill the fleas and it DOES NOT repell fleas like advantix does. My only concern is that Advantix is so powerful he might have a bad reaction to it Anyone use Advantix on a dog 5 lbs or under? I did |
