| Help! OK MY KIKI TURNED 3 MAY 15 AND I KEEP HER CUT IN A WESTIE CUT SHORT BODY LONG LEGS & SHORT FACE BUT I WANT HER TOP KNOT TO GROW SO I DON'T CUT IT. EVERY TIME I TAKE HER TO BE GROOMED I'LL TAKE THE TOP KNOT DOWN AND HER HAIR ALWAYS SHEADS... Even when I do it at home to keep her hair out her eyes its long but thin. I dont keep the bands in mo more than 2 days any suggestions on how I can thicken her hair up and prevent hair lose?

| I think that two days is way too long, but that is just my opinion. My gals don't have topknots, but if they did, I'd do it fresh in the morning and remove it before bedtime. The scalp gets a chance to "rest" that way, and the band can break the hair if it's left in too long. Imagine wearing a ponytail on your head for two days straight. It would start to hurt, I think, and it would definitely cause hair breakage.

| Also I suggest a terry cloth tiny band. (sold in baby department at Walmart) Less stress on hair.

| I agree with both posts above - don't keep it in overnight as the bands can cause breakage and the soft terry bands are much less damaging to the hair. Good luck!

| Have you tried the bands that they sell in the "baby" section? They area fabric like material they work well in my skin kids hair. I would take them out like the others are suggesting. |

| Jada has a long topknot and I never use bands always the terrycloth scrunchies. I also put it up very loosely and keep it braided. I take it down every night and redo her braid otherwise it is in her face and she looks like a sheepdog I posted a while back about help with thickening her braid up and a member suggested Moroccan Oil and I have been using it and it helps with breakage. I would love to see pics of your baby.

| I use the scrunchies also. I redo Rosie's topknot in the morning and before we go to bed. I "loosen" it at night to give her scalp a break. I purchase them at Walmart in the baby section and from BowBiz. Scrunchie Fun/PonyOs: Top Quality, Handmade Dog Bows - Yorkie, Maltese, Shih Tzu - by BowBiz I think the scrunchies are the best thing for growing out a topknot. Rosie has one everyday!!

| Oh I didn't mean to infer that you were putting the band in too tight, I'm sorry if that's how it sounded. I just basically meant that the length of time the band is left in can affect how much damage is done to the hair shaft.
