reaction to Advantage

I use Advantage 10 for flea control on Bella. I have used this product on other dogs that I have had and it always worked. The last couple of times I have used this on Bella she acts strange. The first time it happened I thought she was just pissed at having something on her skin. Yesterday it was time again. After putting it on her she starts to prance around the living room. She would go to one bed and roll around then to her other bed and do the same thing. When I would take her outside to potty she would lay down on the grass and roll around as if she was trying to get it off her. We went to bed and she had me up three times in the night. I would take her out and she did have to pee once but the other two times she just stood there looking around. We went out for Easter supper last night so I thought maybe she wasn't tired and just didn't want to stay in bed, but now I am wondering if it has something to do with the Advantage. DH and I were talking about it this morning and he thinks it could be the Advantage also. She just wasn't herself yesterday and loiking back it was the same thing last month. Has anyone else that uses Advantage had problems with it. I checked where I applied it and there is no redness and she seems her old self today. Is there anything else that I can use that is effective. maybe something taken orally. Thanks

I used it on one of my dogs and it made her twitch and jump by the middle of the night when we were in bed...after I had put it on her, she did just like your Bella, but I thought I would just watch her.....it wasnt anything too distressing...but thenin the middle of the night, as she is trying to sleep, she started like jerking or twitching..then she would settle down for just a minute, thn she was jerking again.....I got up in the middle of the night and bathed her, especially around the neck, then loaded her up and we went to the ER....that was years ago and I cant remember what her gave her, but I never used topical flea stuff again....

Mine do this too, but I use Revolution... it can be washed off after two hours.

Snowbird, glad you mentioned this. The first time the vet put Advantage on BJ during her checkup. Last time he sent me home with a pack of 6 which he charged me $118.00 for. I saw it at Pet Smart for $60 something. Anyway, after I applied the first tube back in March I noticed a lump on her back. I called the Vet and he said he didn't think it was the Advantage but a reaction to one of the two shots he gave her. He mixed them and also gave rabies shot with one. He said it should disappear and I think it did, I pray. We lost our little Dee Dee to cancer which started with a lump on her ear and spread very quickly.

I have used Advantage for years and never had a problem with it. Of course every dog is a bit different. They now have the Advantage II out and I'm not sure what different ingredients are in it.
Did your dog show any redness or irritation at the application site?
