Herding Chickens Sense we live SE FtWorth we had both of todays tornados coming our way for a short time. I saw the clouds blacken,we took the dogs out and got our storm closet ready. Then it was time to call the dogs and have them sit in the closet. I thought this has always been an easy task. I stand at the door of the closet and tell them all (5) "IN". UM NO, not today, today was the first time I have had to do this without 2bits (recently passed at age 15+). It was pretty much like trying to herd chickens. They must of really needed his calmness and it wasnt there, even if I was calm. If there hadnt been such ugly weather outside it would of made for a funny video. One in the closet,4 out,the one runs out while one other goes in. I finally just picked up 2 or 3 at a time and put a baby gate up. I just didnt want to actually close the door on them unless I was in the closet with them. Guess I will have to work on the training some more and rethink the process for speed.

I know mine will go into the closet if I have treats in hand and point where they need to go. Only way I got them inside the other night with this crazy weather. I know it is bad to bribe them but dealing with a tornado is no joke and I'm sure bribing in that situation is completely ok. Hope all is well with you and this crazy weather we are having in TX.

| So glad that all is well, this reminds me of the times when you want to show off your furkids doing tricks and they just look at ya. My skinkids used to do the same thing too. I just know people think that I am making things up.

I am so glad that you and all your fur-babies okay. Ralph knows when my anxiety is kicking in, and hears it in my voice and he just stops and runs back to me, or does what he is supposed to.

Hmmm treats might work. I was just so surprised that they all scattered. I really miss the big guy (70lbs),I know that all of the furbabies do too, especially the poodles. Honestly, stuffing the cockateil in her travel cage was easier, even with the thunder. We are all fine. The storms always seem to go around us on their way to Dallas. You see it coming and then it is just gone and reappears further down the road, not complaining, but very thankful. The damage in the Arlington,Dallas area and Forney is so bad. Many homes are just gone.
