| The only way to know size is to get an adult. The best way to get a healthy pup is to make sure you are getting one from a good breeder who has the parents health checked, make sure the parents are LP free, dosent let the pups go before 12 weeks, let's you see both parents, let's you see where the parents live and pups are being raised. There are a lot of puppy mills out there so be careful and stay away from people who advertise teacups, micros and words like that, stay away from people who breed many different types and breeds mixes also stay away from people who want to meet you somewhere and that keep there dogs in out buildings. You might want to look into how much it's going to cost to own a dog before getting one as well. Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you.

| Buying a pup! thats great, I am on the right track then in my mind I have all of those bases covered. Didn't know to stay away from teacups though why? is it because of health issues on account of them being so small. Thanks for great advice |

| Hello, welcome and congrats and doing your research before purchasing your pup! The reason to stay away from teacups is because there is no such thing. The Yorkie standard is 4 - 7 pounds (of course some may be larger and some may be smaller). Usually people who use the terms "micro, mini and teacup" are backyard breeders or brokers. No reputable breeder will ever call their puppies by those names. And sometimes the smaller pups do have more health issues. Keep reading on this site as I have learned so much from here and good luck in your search!

| Its because there is no such thing, that word is used to jack up the prices and make money good breeder don't use the word. A yorkie is a yorkie whether its 2 pounds, 10 pounds, 7 pounds or 18 pounds
