| OH NO....Grass allergy Macy is potty pad trained so she doesn't have to go outside to do her business. It has been so nice here we have been going on walks, visiting the dog park and just loving the outdoors. Of course she has to bury her nose in every patch of grass and smell. For the past few days I noticed she has been licking her front paws. I always wipe her feet off when we come in from being outside. Last night I thought someone else was in the room with me because she let out 2 sneezes louder than any human's sneeze I have ever heard and has been sneezing all day. I called the vet and she said to give her 1/2 t. Benadryl twice a day. I had some children's Benadryl that was still good and gave her some. Now I am wondering.....do you need to get the unflavored kind? The kind I had left over is cherry flavored. Any suggestions? I didn't think about this until the office closed. Macy weighs a little under 6 lbs.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | We gave Joey cherry flavored children's Benadryl, the kind we gave had real sugar not fake sugar, you might want to be careful with that, many sugar substitues can be harmful to dogs. Also, do not give the cold and sinus medicine. The dosage you mentioned is the same amount my vet said to give Joey, and he weighs 5 1/2 pounds.

| Thanks for the information. Mine doesn't say sugar free so I am assuming it's real sugar but it does say alcohol free. I wanted to make sure the cherry flavoring was OK. Do you think it helps?

| I had trouble with liquid with one of my dogs so bought the children's tablets that are grape, I called the vet because I was unsure if grape was ok, she said it was fine so was the cherry. |

| Thanks. I never knew you could use Benadryl for dogs with allergies. I must be hanging out in a cave somewhere. I was shocked when she told me what to do. Macy hates the liquid, I'll pick up some pills tomorrow and see if she will do better with those.

| Riley has environmental allergies and they are starting to flare a little.... I have given him 1/2 a Benadryl for the past 2-days and his tummy already looks better. I found this info. online: Benadryl for Dogs ? BENADRYL FOR DOGS It Says: Children's Benadryl may be alcohol and sugar free; however, it contains sodium, and this could be detrimental to dogs with certain health concerns. |

| I'm thinking Bella might have a grass allergy also. We mowed Sunday and I had her out in it. Later in the afternoon, I was holding her and heard her wheezing. It stopped after being indoors for a bit. I've to get some benedryl and keep on hand again. |
