| Latest update in Chicken Jerky investigation Vitals - 3 big brands may be tied to chicken jerky illness in dogs, FDA records show The article asks people who have not reported their case to do so. If you know of any other message boards for other breeds please post this article. My theory is that perhaps the problem is with how the chickens themselves are fed/raised. Maybe the problem is not the processing. If they are feeding the chickens something unsafe maybe it changes the meat in some way they haven't looked for? Not sure if that is even possible. |

| They need to stop selling these brands at stores because some pet owners don't know about the problems they are causing and buy them and still feed them to there dog. It makes me so angry stores wont stop selling them.

| I talked a few people out of buying them when I was in the store. I wonder if I would be banned from Petsmart if I printed out the article and left copies lying around. They have a HUGE canyon creek ranch section. So far, chicken treats seem to be the only suspect treat though. I find that interesting.... |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Before I knew about any of this (about 2 years ago) I would buy the chicken jerky all the time.. Then izzy started to get sick, as in not eating, acting depressed or maybe more like her tummy hurt. And it always happened after she would have a jerky. Finally I started linking it to the chicken jerky. All the chicken came from China.. I was so mad...So I did my homework... I went to my local small town pet store and asked if they had chicken jerky strips made in the USA and product from the USA.. At first they tried to get me to buy other stuff. Then explain why I was not interested.. They understood and found me True Chews.. Chicken Jerry strips made by Tyson, made and product of the USA .. Izzy tried them and has had no problems at all. She one about every 2 days. All her treats now are only USA made and natural.. Nothing is too good for my fur baby

| I think the absolute WORST thing about all this is that the manufacturers themselves KNOW and just keep on pushing these products while claiming to care 'because they're dog parents, too' etc. If they really are caring dog parents, how little do they care about their own dogs if they only enough about their customers' dogs to continue to turn a profit for themselves?

| I can't believe Purina is the maker of this poisonous product ;( Zoey ate Waggin Train treat and is now sick. My vet and I have filled complaints/cases without the FDA, Waggin Train, and Purina. All my dogs ate them at some point but Zoey ate them everyday

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I've been using th eoven to bake treats, but I believe I will now invest in a dehydrator. I can always freeze a big batch and take out as needed. This story and so many others like it is so sad we can't trust the dog food mfgr's.

| I'm looking a dehyrators now for mine. I want to switch Buddy off of Proplan and Zoey off the NF. Now I need to find a company where it is 100% American- All ingredients are from the US, made, and packed in US. It will be Homemade food for me, I guess. Not looking forward to finguring this out. I need to take it one step at a time.

| I got a cheap one on Amazon. It works but it is a little noisy like some reviews say. I just put it in a room I don't use much so i don't notice it. It sounds kind of like a hair dryer. That's kind of what it is as it basically blows warm air through slots in the trays which are stacked. Maggie loves her chicken jerky! She just loves chicken any way she can get it! |
