First Haircut I took Jack for his first haircut today (he is 6 months old)...the groomer said he did well....but here is the problem... Since he has been home he has not once pee'd on his pad. I have him in a pen with a pad when I cannot watch him and he has been good about going on the pad in the pen. I figured he had a traumatic day so we played a lot when he got home... Even in the pen, he pees where ever he wants...I think that the haircut has something to do with this...Anybody have a thought? PS - Without his baby hair he is soooo small! He is still sooo adorable!

Did he have to stay at the groomers for a long time? If he was shut in a cage with no ability to have a pad or go out it could have changed his potty habits for a while. I won't leave Gracie at a groomers for more than an hour and a half. Some grooming shops want your dog there all day when it only takes about an hour to groom a dog. You probably need to keep putting him on the pad and reward him big time when he does finally uses the pee pad. He is young so a change in routine can throw him off easily. Kind of like starting the training all over. He should remember and go back to his routine after a day or two.

thanks thanks, he actually has been better today. He only stayed at the groomers for 1 1/2, 2 hours max, as I went to get an oil change.

Congrats on his first trip to the Spa! I have not had the problem you have had with either of our dogs. I am wondering if maybe he forgot what he learned while he was there? Reverted to some old habits? Our oldest Yorkie was very quiet, and did not bark much at all. But she spent an overnight at the vet's once and came back a barker. A really loud, howling, baying barking Yorkie. It was the most peculiar thing. I believe she picked up some bad habits while there but was easily corrected to be her old quiet self again. And I am thinking your dog is probably in a similar situation. A few corrections and gentle nudges and he will be back to pre-Spa Jack.
