| Why? Why do we love these little dogs so much? I have owned dogs all my life and found them loyal, affectionate and loving, I loved them back. But these little yorkies get into your heart in a different way even when they don't come when called, toilet on the floor if you miss the slightest hint they want out, jump all over you when playing, refuse to eat if it's not quite right etc. etc... I miss them when I leave them for a short period and would kill anyone who harmed them in any way. What is it with these little ones? |

I think their very size adds to how we feel about them (even though Harry's a big boy). And as tough and rough and outgoing as he is - he has an air of vulnerability about him which breaks my heart sometimes, even if there's nothing to worry about That sounds a bit nuts - but you know what I mean? The way they do their little quirky things is so appealing - when I'm packing my bag ready to go out, Harry jumps on the top of the armchair, right next to it - I'm sure he'd get in too if it was big enough . They do get right into your heart and soul Sally + Harry x

Billy Currington just wrote the cutest song about dogs! I think it's called "Wan You To Love me, Like My Dog". Not sure. I LOVE IT!

| My grand daughter was her yesterday, age 9, as we were sitting talking she looked at Gracie, who was on my lap, and said, "Having Gracie is just like having a puppy forever." I hadn't thought of it that way but I guess in a way she is right. They are always happy and wanting to play. I guess joyful would be a good way to describe them. Very loyal, smart and stubborn. I have had other small breed dogs but the Yorkie is in a class of it's own. |

She stands at the door as I leave and I know if she could talk my language that she would be asking why she isnt going. Some on here described them as being "more child like" and it is true. I have had poodles, poms, chis and a big dog or two,but there has not ever been a dog in my life like Mina. I dont usually even refer to her as a dog,she is a furkid,my baby girl, lil princess. My daughters like her, dont really understand and I think one of them is even a bit jealous. My DH gets it,he is just as crazy about her as I am. Now when we plan a weekend away,he automatically wants to take the trailer so "the baby" can go. He will dress her for bed and make sure that she is covered and warm at night. |

| I truly believe yorkies are in a class of their own, there is just something about them that is so soulful and humanlike...brings tears to your eyes sometimes they are just so darned cute. Their expression, their personality and the fact that they just adore you as much as you do them makes them the best My previous yorkie, Milo would follow me everywhere and was just always happy to be around me. He would do silly things like bury his bones and treats in my bed and he was just so cute. When he was stolen from me 3 yrs ago I about lost it. When I felt ready to even begin looking at adopting another dog, I didn't even think about getting another breed. I am a yorkie lover till i die!!!

| Givemecoutoure: I can not even begin to imagine having my baby stolen. I am so sorry. I do believe that there is a very special place for people that do that kind of stuff and eternity is sooooo much longer than our time here. Glad that you have begun healing and have another baby in your life. Hope the weather is better in your part of the state than mine. Overcast, chilly |

I speak only for myself and my own dog experience. There are true cat lovers out there, just chalk this statement up as complete and total ignorance and disregard for other species

| Why do we love Yorkies ? I often say Yorkies are child like. Perhaps because they have been companions to people for so long, they just know what we want. I think size is a part of it too. No matter how much we love a Newfie, GS or Lab they out grow our lap. A Yorkie is like a child that stays preschool sweet.

Just their physical appearance alone brings out our protective and nurturing side. Their teddy bear eyes, their button noses and their small size is irresistible. I have found that I am this way with most kittens and puppies....very protective and nurturing. It's just that yorkies maintain that puppy like physical appearance that last a lifetime. Even my 11 yr still looks like a puppy and is often mistaken for one. Last edited by yavenay; 01-09-2012 at 11:08 AM.

| They are more like 'perpetual toddlers' and less like dogs. They are cute, playful, loving, devoted and often cutely ferocious little snuggle-buddies, and are smart, funny, and impish. They love people and want to make you happy. They know what you're thinking just before you do, and it is rare you get to put one over on them! Like other dogs, they are 'ready' and horribly disapointed and sad if they can't go with you because they are so human-like. Just when you think you've figured them out, you find out you were wrong! And that is how I've taken over 600 photos of Mia and Brody since October and missed hundreds of other shots...too slow at grabbing the camera/cellphone. I've had lots of dogs and cats, but there are major differences in big dogs and little dogs. My husband never had little dogs before, and he did not understand the 'draw' a Yorkie has on you before we got Brody. Now, we have Mia, also, and he does understand...boy, does he! He's wrapped at tight to those babies as to our granddaughter!

| It really is amazing, isn't it? My daughter has never liked dogs, but she loves Oz. My son, who always scorned people with small dogs and called them "rats", now threatens to take Oz home with him every time he's over. My fiance and I love Oz more and more every single day, and I know we couldn't imagine our lives without that cute, loving, smart, happy-go-lucky, inquisitive, bouncy, cuddly, furry, sweet boy. No matter how bad a day I have, one look or lick from Oz puts a smile on my face, and he makes me laugh EVERY day. In all honesty I don't know if that's a yorkie thing or if it's Oz in particular, but having Oz in my life makes me want to get 10 more just like him!!!
