| Rescue remedy Has anyone had any success with rescue remedy? Gizmo and I have been in the car a lot lately and he pants, turns in circles and wines the whole ride. Are there any side effects? Happy New Year everyone |

| I have used RR with Bogey with some success. But I have found that the ThunderShirt is like a miracle for all types of anxiety from car ride to thunder and fireworks. Have you ever seen them? There is an entire thread about how well they work and I think you can now buy them from Petsmart. But I have to add that neither alone did the trick. I've been most pleased when I have used the TS and RR together. It's amazing the change and how well he does. As for you original question about side effects. I have seen none with Bogey and have never heard of anyone else mention any. Good luck and take a look at the link http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...p-anxiety.html

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I gave Eddie some Rescue Remedy just last night for the fireworks. He also had his Thundershirt on. I haven't heard of any side affects.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It seems like RR works well for some, but not for others. I have heard great things about the Thundershirt. I hope you find something that works .

| My family has used rr for years... great for humans and pets. We don't have issues in the car but I do give it to the girls before giving baths. I haven't used tt but one of my friends says it really helps calm her golden.

| I tried the thunder shirt and it didn't work for Gizmo. Thinking of getting a prescription from the vet if rr doesn't work! |

| I'm a huge fan of the Thundershirt. It certainly doesn't work for all dogs but I've found that it has to be put on well before whatever event you are using it for. If I put it on Cooper during a thunderstorm it's too late. But if i put it on him 1/2 hour before it starts then he does much better. Maybe you should try it combined with Rescue Remedy.

| We like the Thundershirt too. I use it mainly for Teddy during storms, but a few times I have used it on each of the boys as a jacket on a walk and I noticed they were very calm around triggers that typically would get them excited.

| Its actually spelled Hydroxyzine. Yes, it can be given for motion sickness. Im a nursing student and one of my patients was on it ( If you think about it the medication is used to decrease nausea and vomiting therefore helps with motion sickness!) |

| I wasn't a wear of that because Callie was put on that for itching and allergies and I have never heard anything about it being prescribed for car sickness.

| But if its not anxiety causing them to get car sick how does it help? It makes sense though because Callie can occasionally get car sick but on the days she takes it and we are in the car she never throws up.

| I dont think you have to be anxious to be car sick. The medication is classified as an antianxiety and an antihistamine and has antiemetic properties. (Antiemetic meaning helps with nausea and vomiting) Thats all i really know about the medication, i will have to look it up in my school books. |
